Temporarily Disable Gift Certificates

I am running a 30% off promotion using coupon codes and running an outside advertising campaign that is important. I would like to disable gift certificates for now and then re-enable them after this promotion. I know I can uninstall gift certificates completely via this thread: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35948

The reason I want to temporarily disable gift certificates is, during checkout the gift certificate redemption box and code shows first, and then the coupon code (which we are using) shows second. That coupon code also says redemption code. Basically there is too much going on during checkout, and we don't want to confuse our new customers, so we would like to hide or disable the gift certificate area if possible during chekout.

Any suggestions?

Re: Temporarily Disable Gift Certificates

If the element has its own DIV class or ID, you could try a {display:none} declaration in a stylesheet.

If the element has its own DIV class or ID, you could try a {display:none} declaration in a stylesheet.

The full element does not have a div or id at this point, only the fieldsets has this. Meaning all the text will still show and the entry boxes would be hidden. Here is the code:

<legend>Gift Certificates</legend> <p>To redeem a gift certificate follow these instructions:</p><p>To use Gift Certificate funds already in your account, type the amount you wish to apply in the box that says 'Apply Amount'. You will need to choose a payment method, then click the continue button to apply the funds to your shopping cart.</p><p>If you are redeeming a <em>new</em> Gift Certificate you should type the number into the box next to Redemption Code. The amount redeemed will be added to your account when you click the continue button.</p><div class="gvBal larger">Apply Amount: <input type="text" size="6" onkeyup="submitFunction()" name="cot_gv" value="0.00" onfocus="if (this.value == '0.00') this.value = '';" /></div> <label class="inputLabel" for="disc-ot_gv">Redemption Code</label> <input type="text" name="gv_redeem_code" id="disc-ot_gv" onkeyup="submitFunction(0,0)" /></fieldset>

Now I suppose I could find the page that has this and then enter the tags; but then when I re-instate I would have to find this file again, remove the code, then remove the display:none code from the css stylesheet. This sounds like a lot of work for a temporary hide.

What would be the consequences if I uninstall the gift certificate module and then re-install later? I could hide the few gift certificate products I have in the catalog area until it's re-installed. Perhaps this seems even easier than the css option.
