Re: configuration of Payment Module from Admin : check/MoneyOrder

Looks like you need to remove the 'the Store Owner' part of your 'Make Payable To' configuration item.

Actually, s/he doesn't need to remove that part, s/he needs to configure it to use their own name (or whatever).

The 'Store owner/Website name' is the default text data for the 'make payable To' data, and the code explicitly checks to ensure that this gets changed, else it will report the error as indicated. If this default text is simply removed, the code will fail in the exact same way, because a NULL entry is also disallowed and flagged as an error.

Cheers

Now.....
You might want to change your admin name since it's been broadcast to the world.

Yep, will do that. Thanks ! Didn't realise ..
So I need to physically go and change it, or is there a tool for that ?

Yes, you need to 'physically' change it. DON'T FORGET TO UPDATE the configure.php files to reflect the change.

Re: configuration of Payment Module from Admin : check/MoneyOrder

Sure, Thanks .
There was one more query.. I tried to find, but could not get it.
Is there a tutorial/place where I can understand more about configuring 'order Total' module, especially the COD part?
Thanks again

There isn't an 'order_total' module as such. This is a collection of several different modules each of which have their own configuration settings. The modules get processed according to the 'sort order' in order to produce the final total cost.

I've no personal experience with a COD module, but it doesn't look too complex. Do you really wish to offer a COD service though? Not that there is anything wrong with it, but it isn't unheard of for some people to abuse this by placing bogus orders and having them delivered to unsuspecting parties. (Don't ask me why, they just do).

If you do enable this option ALWAYS confirm the order by phone before shipping.

Cheers

That's a great advice.
I will rethink on offering the service.
Thanks

Re: configuration of Payment Module from Admin : check/MoneyOrder

COD is VERY RISKY these days. It is usually offered to customers with whom you've got a long-standing relationship.

There are far too many crooks out there these days. Additionally, your delivery company must offer this as a service. Most do not, because COD is an archaic payment method, and they don't want to be a cash collection service where there are additional risks for them.

Don't offer COD unless you are absolutely sure you can collect the cash, and that you mitigate for the considerable risks involved.
