usps shipping module, IM LOOSING MY F_ING MIND!

why is there no flipping area to edit the box dimensions. Im getting rate quotes 4 dollars MORE than usps.com rate quote, because I am able to enter the box dimensions for priority mail. any solution guys?

yes, I am using the latest one. I installed it last week. Im on zencart 1.5.0.

Well then as you have noted - there is no builtin box dimension capability

whats the point in the module if the shipping quotes are 4 dollars more expensive, than if I went to usps.com website and type the dimensions in. my customers are going to pay outrageous shipping fees with this module.

Which shipping module do you have installed? If you click on USPS what do you see in the right panel?

I have the usps shipping module, not the usps rateV4 one. ship from zipcode 34212 to zipcode 55448. box size 20"x14"x6" LxWxH, 2 pounds weight. someone was talking about applying the upsxml code into the php file to get dimension sizes, but im not sure exactly how to do that. If I could just get the right estimate it would be great. If I have to edit the php file if you have a solution then Ill do whatever it takes to get the right quote.

What rates are you getting in the Zen Cart USPS shipping module?

What rates are you getting on USPS.com?

usps.com is 9.50, or online if I print it out it will be 8.19. usps module is quoting me $24.80.

Could you go to your Zen Cart Admin and the Modules ... Shipping ... and click on USPS and post what is in the right panel ...

Then, go to the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... and post the settings in there ...

Could you try changing these settings:

Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship 50
Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight **0:0 **
Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight 0:0

You were telling USPS the maximum box is 1lb and to ship a 2lb box plus 1lb Tare for a total of 3lbs and get quotes ...

See if the other settings bring your rates closer ...

Thank you. seems to work good. Why does setting the maximum weight shipped affect the quote? curious how the max weight that I will ship, effects the usps quote. Or is it one of those weird variables that was easy to build into the module, and allows users to fine tune the quotes with maximum weight? because the 50 pounds max weight worked, even tho the maximum weight I ship will be 2-3 pounds. thats why I was like wtf.

If you look in the shipping.php class you can see where the Tare Rate is quoted and the number of boxes for the order based on the weight ...

Then, look in the usps.php shipping module to see what it does with the $cost and boxes from that calculation ...

More or less it sounds like you were getting a quote of 3 times the rate quote as that is 3lbs / 1 for 3 boxes * the $cost ... give or take a bit ...:eek:

NOTE: The default Maximum is 50 ... but USPS can go, in many cases, up to 70lbs before there is an issue with quotes being to high ... the 50lbs allows for the adjustment of Tare Rates to be added for the packaging and not exceed that 70lb weight ...
