Running out of Disk Space on Hosting Account

My Hosting Company has reported that I have too many files on my hosting account.

Your current file count is at 366596 you will need to reduce that to be below 200k.

Below is a list of your top directories.

182293 /home2/irishisb/public_html/rmstitanic100/cache
82471 /home2/irishisb/public_html/ulsterscot/cache
29214 /home2/irishisb/public_html/ulster-scotsbiz/cache
7157 /home2/irishisb/public_html/cache

Also your Database table count is currently at 1200 tables, You will need to get that below 1000 tables.

I can empty the cache via FTP but is there no way this can be automated ?

Also what can be done re reducing the number of database tables. Are these all required ?

On the hosting account there are around 5 databases re above each holding around 800 products.

This is clearly the biggest file hog. Have you taken a look at the contents of any of the files in this folder? You'll probably find they'll contain mostly error messages of one sort or other. You should fix the errors then delete the files.

29214 /home2/irishisb/public_html/ulster-scotsbiz/cache
7157 /home2/irishisb/public_html/cache

The same thing applies to these. Are you even using the stuff in the /ulsterscot/ and/or /ulster-scotsbiz/ folders?

A standard ZenCart installation only uses ~100 tables. What the heck are all the others?

Generally no need. As stated, these folders generally contain nothing but error messages. Fix the errors and the messages/files won't be created so nothing to empty.
Besides, if there were an automated way to keep this folder clear it would be doing you a disservice, as it will be deleting the error messages before you even look to see what is causing the errors.

ZenCart only uses ONE database. The only time you should see more than that is if you have more than one ZenCart installtion on the same server.

NOTE: The databases don't hold 'products', they hold the tables, and it is the tables that hold the products. I honestly can't even imagine what you are actually seeing or looking at.

Re: Running out of Disk Space on Hosting Account

Thanks Rod for this. Not looking at anything.

We have about 5 different shops (ZenCart) on the same server.

We haven't done anything different with the carts so not certain how the 120 tables are created or how we can check these.

Will check the cache files to see what the errors are.

Thank you.

Re: Running out of Disk Space on Hosting Account

The cache file contained alot of these errors

[06-Mar-2013 06:42:19] PHP Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home2/irishisb/public_html/includes/templates/ZCT Sports 03/templates/tpl_modules_youtube.php on line 16

I guess this as due to a YouTube Add on loaded quite some time ago which never worked.

Your original post had this as 1200 tables. Not 120.

If there are only 120 tables in each of the databases that is probably OK. The additional tables being added by the various add-on/modules that you've installed over time.

If it never worked you should uninstall it. The errors will go away and your logs will cease to grow.
