Attribute won't override product price

Hi. I'm using ZenCart to sell wallpaper online.

However, I want customers to be able to buy a sample that costs £1.
I have already added code to the PayPal Express Checkout module that detects products whose price is £1 and sets the postage to £1 also.

I am having difficulty however, setting the Sample Attribute to override the product price and set it to £1.
So far, if a product costs £13.95, the attribute adds £1 to this price. This is not what I want.

Is there something I am missing? or is there any code I need to add to a page?
(My boss is also giving it to me in the neck for not getting this done >_<)

Regards,
Denver Freeburn

Re: Attribute won't override product price

You could set your product to 'price by attributes' when you create/edit it and make the full product one attribute at 13.95 and the sample as another at 1.00.

Re: Attribute won't override product price

Hi

That hasn't worked.
I had the idea to try a coupon called SAMPLE, but that only deducts a set price.

Is there anything that I can do just to make sure that any product, no matter what price, can have an option for the price to be £1?

Re: Attribute won't override product price

When you add the attribute for the fixed-price sample using Catalog->Attribute Controller, are you removing the '+' sign in front of the price? Removing that (and setting your product to be priced by attributes) will get you to a fixed-price sample.

Re: Attribute won't override product price

I removed the + from price and entered 1.0000 and set all the coloured boxes to "No".
I then changed a product to be priced by attribute and its still going through at the full price of £13.95

Re: Attribute won't override product price

You appear to have the Product Price set to 13.95 and an Attribute set to 1.00 ...

What you really want is Product Price set to 0.00 ...

Then have 1 Option Name with multiple Option Values of:
Sample
Price 1.00
Sort Order: 10

Full Roll (or something for the full Product)
Price: 13.95
Sort Order: 20

If you do not want the customer to be able to pick both the Sample and the full Product, then change the Option Name from Checkbox to Radio Button ...

To ensure that the customer picks a proper Attribute, you can also add the Option Value:
Select from below
Default: YES
Display Only: YES
Sort Order: 0

Re: Attribute won't override product price

Be careful ...

It looks like you made 2 Option Names and 1 Option Value for each ... you really want 1 Option Name with multiple Option Values ...

Re: Attribute won't override product price

That is looking better ...

You might consider a more "meaningful" Option Value Name than "Price", as that is a tad obscure ...

Yeah, I'm going to work on it a bit more now and make the presentation look a little more attractive and word it better
