Attributes and downloads help please

I am setting up a store that only sells PDF downloads.
One of my products (product A) has 2 slight differences, let's call them A+i and A+ii.
To purchase either costs $10. I would like to offer the following purchase options
Ai = $10
Aii = $10
Ai + ii = $11

As Ai and Aii are almost identical I would like to call it product A and have i, ii & iii simply as attributes but each being a separate PDF file.

Hoping I haven't confused you all as much as I have myself :wink:

Re: Attributes and downloads help please

So, is this a pricing question then? ie: "if both attribute-boxes are checked, how can I make the price be $11 combined instead of $20" ?

Each attribute will definitely be its own separate PDF file - that's how ZC handles attributes.

yes and no... I want the customer to be able to select only one of the three options, so PDF one and PDF two are very similar all but for a paragraph depending on their style (of martial art) then the third ($11) option includes both of the paragraphs that were available in option 1&2 but with the slight premium. As the bulk of the content is identical I wanted to use attributes rather than create multiple products that are 99% the same thing.

Re: Attributes and downloads help please

Okay. Will this work?

radio-button 1: Ai ($10) (a .pdf or a zip of it)
radio-button 2: Aii ($10) (a .pdf or a zip of it)
radio-button 3: Ai+Aii ($11) (a zip containing both .pdfs, or a 2-page pdf)

Assuming the PDFs are static content, not dynamically generated on-the-fly specific to that customer.

annoyingly I had planned to incorporate SetaPDF into the loop to 'brand' each page with customers details.
That (deal breaker I'm assuming) aside would you not consider it odd or bordering on unprofessional if you received two identical products albeit one paragraph differing? Hence my hopes of three individual PDF's.

Re: Attributes and downloads help please

Not a deal-breaker. Just means your combined PDF would probably need to be a 2-page document instead of two separate documents. I suspect the limitations in this scenario are simply down to your integration of setapdf.

I'm more than happy with that as a sensible and achievable compromise, thank you Dr for your time and input.
Sooo, how would one go about setting this situation up in respect of attributes and pricing under on item description?

Just like any product with attributes. Set up the option names and the option values, then assign them to the product using the attributes controller. There's an FAQ on adding attributes to products, which talks also about pricing etc.
