Changing the VAT of an existing invoice

I have a question. It took me a while to find out how to add vat on an invoice. So the new invoices are ok, but the old invoices are still without vat, is there a way (within the database?) to change the old invoices from without vat into including vat?

Are you sure you want/need to do this? Have you considered any possible legal implications? I don't know about your part of the world, but retroactively changing tax invoices in Australia could lead to some serious trouble (possible tax evasion).
