How to get rid of default stuff?

Hi Y'all,

I'm trying to customize a newly installed shopping cart and there are some things that I can't figure out. Here goes:

  1. I have created my own logo.gif but it doesn't show up
  2. Ho do I get rid of the "Have you seen.." sidebox?
  3. How do I get rid of the advertisement on the very bottom of the home page, just below the "Powered by..." line?
  4. Where do I remove the advertisement text in the body of the home page?

Thanks a lot.

Ed

Re: How to get rid of default stuff?

  1. I have created my own logo.gif but it doesn't show up
You need to upload it to your templates /images folder
    Create a template
    http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?180-how-do-i-create-a-new-custom-template
    http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?228-understanding-the-override-system
  2. Ho do I get rid of the "Have you seen.." sidebox?
I searched the faq's for sideboxes
    http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?90-how-do-i-remove-and-or-re-arrange-the-sideboxes
  3. How do I get rid of the advertisement on the very bottom of the home page, just below the "Powered by..." line?
    http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?122-how-do-i-set-up-banner-ads
  4. Where do I remove the advertisement text in the body of the home page?
Edit the main page text at
admin > tools >define page editor > select from drop down > define main_page.php

Re: How to get rid of default stuff?

Thanks for the quick response.

  1. I DID upload the gif before I posted. It doesn't show, hence my question.
  2. I had disabled all the side boxes one by one until I finally hit the right one. If the side boxes names would better correlate with the title on the box (Have you seen...), things might be easier.
  3. I have disabled all banners just for the heck of it, the bottom banner is still there.
  4. That one finally worked.

Re: How to get rid of default stuff?

I trust you have installed your CUSTOM template ?

Do not start editing "classic"...

A link to your site and post it with spaces to prevent it being indexed by google like

http :// www. zen-cart.com/

Re: How to get rid of default stuff?

Do this first... Right now you are messing about in CLASSIC - which ideally should NOT be messed with.

Re: How to get rid of default stuff?

You could also try one of the free templates. Those by picaflor azul are particularly attractive. I installed ABINGTON MEGA-MENU **on a site I am developing **about 20 minutes ago.

Here's the link:

http : // www. heartflex. com / order-new. htm

My logo on top does not show and I can't remove the ad at the bottom.

Thanks for all the help.

Re: How to get rid of default stuff?

Why are you running ZenCart in an iframe??

This will cause all sorts of issues

Re: How to get rid of default stuff?

Would it cause my logo not to show up and not getting rid of the bottom ad?

To where did you upload this image??

Try uploading it to - replacing the logo.gif image that exists there

/includes/templates/classic/images/

Re: How to get rid of default stuff?

I did upload it to the template_default, my bad.

Now it seems to work.

Thanks,
