How can I tell if a customer has downloaded a product?

I'm not sure if I posted this in the correct location. I sell downloadable PDF files on my website, I have them set to 7 days/5 download attempts. It seems obvious that if the number of downloads still says 5 on the customer's order, that they haven't attempted to download the file yet; but I don't want to assume this is true, in case it isn't.

So is it possible that the customer could have downloaded the file but their order still says 5 left? I have not reset the downloads for this order. Thanks.

No, if the Order still says 5 are left, then the customer has not tried to download the file yet ...

Make a test customer and experiment with this so you are more familiar with how this works and what you will see on the Customer Account and what you will see in the Admin and how, should you need to, to Update the order should the customer need more tries to get their file due to download issues or running out of days ...

Thanks, I'm already familiar with how all of these things work, and I thought I was correct about the download numbers, I just wanted to be sure.
