USPS International Shipping not working

I can get UPS international to show up but using a real Canadian address (of someone's business) does not bring up any international shipping options for USPS. Using new version - 2013-03-27

I've tried changing the decimal places from 3 to 2. A companion website is using the old USPS module with no problems with international at all - not on the same server - but on the same set of servers. Using default USPS settings.

Tare weight 0:0 and both are shipping from the same zip code.

I am quite stumped here. Never run into this before with this version. Have I missed something?

On the configuration for USPS did you check some shipping methods for International Shipping?

Yes, ma'am. In fact I checked them most of them to make sure something would be right (left out envelopes). I feel really stupid posting about this!

Can you post what you see in the right side panel when you click on USPS shipping module?

If you turn on the Debug Log in USPS, are you generating any logs when you go to checkout_shipping?

Do you have Curl enabled on this domain? You can check by running:

I turned on screen quickly to get a glimpse so did see this:

and the response must be something about what is being shipped but not sure - it was a lot of text.

Also I did turn on the logs but didn't find one anywhere - not in logs, cache or module - shipping

The logs are generated and put in the /logs whenever you try to get a quote from the USPS server ...

As it has a lot of details in it, that was why I wanted to see if it was giving more information that what you just displayed ...

The log is so big that it won't fit. The ending says:

oh yikes, just checked the error logs: it's throwing an error:

I have gone back and checked to make sure I have the most recent version - comparing the download to the version number and it is right.

But that's not a valid zip for Canada. Format should be letter-number-letter-number-letter-number like A1A1A1

Not sure if that is what's breaking the returned quote.

You could try commenting out the big preg_replace on the line before where that simple_xml error is occurring, and see if the error goes away. That will mess up the names of the quoted responses, but if the symptoms go away then maybe the data USPS is returning contains some new symbols or characters that need to be filtered by updating the preg_replace logic.

You are quite correct - had a 7 instead of a y - using an address of someone you know! I was trying to make sure I was using a real address.

But changing that didn't make a difference. So since the old USPS version is working on the companion site for international shipments, I'm tempted to try that one instead.

Just as a test, can you try the USPS RateV4 in post #6 just to see if it makes a difference?

Do the steps of:
REMOVE USPS
Load to server new USPS
INSTALL USPS
Configure USPS

and see if there is any difference in your results?

Uh, well, no. For inside US, got no USPS showing at all but same as before for international - can't find a method.

Could you set that on Debug Log and try a shipping in the checkout_shipping to the US, Canada and UK and zip those three logs please?

This is really not making a lot of sense ... I tried USPS with your id and it works fine ... I am just not seeing why it is not working for you properly in either of these ...

I did figure out what was wrong with the national and fixed that (my fault entirely) but international never did work on that site. I did go back to last year's version.

But trying it out on a test server - everything is working with your April version. Most bizarre. The test server is set up very similarly to the server this site is on. I would not expect a difference.Attachment #12678

So I have attached logs from all three versions and marked them as such. The more recent version are returning that error message I mentioned at first.

Is it worth importing the live site database to your test server and testing that? ... to rule out store-configuration settings in the live site?

Easier to ask sysadmin (Q) first about the error message in case it is his server. Then easy enough to pull over to my server.

I doubt it's server-specific. I'm leaning more towards it being caused by the data.
