Custom Jewelry/Best way to allow for 100+ options

Hello, I have asked about this in the past and have tried several ideas, but i'm hoping someone might have come up with something new or different. I sell custom jewelry and accessories for kid sports fundraising and I have over 100 charms to choose from. I have my site working (not public) one way but i'm concerned with the fact that even with a new window popping up to show the options, its going to be A LOT of options...all needed. Has anyone come up with a good way to do this yet ?

We have a similar issue and while not all of our products have loads of options, some do. I guess it is just a balancing act. If you are selling say, pendants on chains, then figure out which you have more of and list that as the "core product." In other words. If you have 100 charms, and they can either be on a 40, 50, or 60 cm chain. Then your products would be the charms - "Starfish," "Moon," "Heart," . . . and the options would be the three chains or no chain.

As a customer I could then order a Stafish with chain, plus a Moon and a heart (without chain) and then wear them all on one necklace.

This way you have 100+ products, with just four options each. And this is MUCH easier for a customer to make a purchasing decision, and that should be the priority.

Furthermore, if you expect to sell most necklaces on a 40cm chain, you can price that at say $80 (+$10 for the 50cm chain, +20 for the 60cm chain, and -60 for no chain). Make sense?
