zc_install on server won't run

Blank gray page with correct "Zen Cart Setup - Welcome" in title bar. I'm trying to run install in/on an upgrade to 1.5.1, freshly FTPd to the server, to upgrade the database (per instructions) after the many days comparing and adjusting files: I'm not surprised ... I must have messed something up ... but this is not the sort of bad outcome I was expecting. Ideas?

A "blank page" or "partially blank page" almost always means a PHP error is happening ... usually because some files are missing or didn't transfer completely or have been edited incorrectly leaving syntax errors in them.
