Coupon redeemption leads to blank page when no payment method is selected.

So putting in a coupon code and not choosing a payment method takes the buyer to the checkout_confirmation page which of course throws an error because the payement isn't there.

Hitting the back button shows the checkout_payment page with the coupon redeem success method and the no payment chosen error message.

Nothing in the checkout has changed but the payment methods are all essentially clones with no actual payment method except for a brand new payment module for IPPay.

Would the modules be at fault for allowing the submit button to got to confirmation without a payment choice or can the payment modules themselves create a problem?

How many Payment methods are allowed?

If you start from, Logged Out ...

Then Login ... Go to Checkout ... Pick a shipping method ... Continue ... and go to the checkout_payment page ... is a Payment Module selected?

Then, on the checkout_payment page enter your Discount Coupon and click Continue, what happens?

No, there's no default payment method selected to start with. So not selecting payment method but doing a coupon redemption returns an error on checkout_confirmation.

If one is supposed to be selected, how do we make that happen? Preferably in the new gateway payment module, I guess.

Actually, if you follow those steps, you should still be on the checkout_payment page and see 2 messages:

Congratulations you have redeemed the Discount Coupon Please select a payment method for your order.

Have you an URL for your site that we can perhaps test and see what is happening?

Also, could you PM me a Discount Coupon code to test this?

The problem turned out to be a language file for one of the payment methods. So obviously even though no payment method was chosen, zen cart runs thru all the payment language files any way. In this case creating an error and a totally unanticipated blank page - which looked to be the confirmation page and not the payment page.

So the lesson is never ignore an error message about a language file!
