Hello all, I set up my zen cart the other day with Paypal Express Checkout and did some tests with a couple test products. I noticed that when I clicked on the "Check out with Paypal" button instead of "Go to checkout", the shipping amount was completely missing. However, if I clicked on "Go to checkout" and signed in with my dummy test account, it allowed me to select shipping and then passed it on to Paypal for payment with the shipping included. How do I set it up in such a way that it guarantees that shipping gets included?
That's by design.
It doesn't know your shipping address yet if you use the Check out with PayPal shortcut button. But the price shown is only an estimate anyway, because it also still needs to calculate taxes too. The final price is shown on YOUR store, not on PayPal. The customer WILL see the final price including shipping and taxes ON YOUR STORE before confirming checkout and actually completing the payment.
When using the EC shortcut button, ALL the customer is doing at that point is CHOOSING THEIR FUNDING SOURCE. They're NOT actually making payment at that stage. (They're also providing an address too if they've not yet logged into your store, but that's pretty self-evident.)
