Subcategories not showing products - instead a drop down for manufacturers

Hello Zenners

I have been working on a site (it's adult products - so please be advised before you click) www.just-##########.com. I took it live a little bit ago and while this was a problem before I thought I'd fix it later as it was not that big a deal. Now, I think I might be loosing customers as they are having to dig in and search for what they want versus having a page with products already listed...

If you click on category, the subcategory page will open. If you click on a sub category, then I can only see a drop down menu with the available manufacturers to click on. This is restrictive as someone that is just looking for something that might catch their eye, has to keep playing with the menu to get a new set of products under the same subcategory. However, some other subcategories open to display all the products at once. I'm confused and not sure what went/is wrong and how to fix it. Any help/direction would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Re: Subcategories not showing products - instead a drop down for manufacturers

The site was censored by the moderators so I'm going to spell it out with spaces in between. The hypen in the middle is supposed to be there. Please Note: This site sells adult toys and you should not visit this site if you are offended by adult products. The site can be seen at www.j u s t - d i l d o dot com. The hypen needs to be there for the site to pull up.

If you will notice: there are several sub categories that loads up and displays all the products within the subcategory. However, there are other subcategories that don't show the products but just a drop down with manufacturers. When you click on a manufacturer, products for that manufacturer shows up. I checked the product list files in includes/template/my_template/templates and compared it with the default file and up loaded it again. I'm not sure what other files control the subcategories but if someone can point me to it, I will appreciate it.

Check the tutorial I mentioned and your /logs folder for error messages.

stevesh:

Check the tutorial I mentioned and your /logs folder for error messages.

Thanks Stevesh. I checked the /logs folder and the error file and there is an error file as of this morning: PHP Warning: preg_replace() [<a href='function.preg-replace'>function.preg-replace</a>]: Unknown modifier 'I' in /home/local/public_html/includes/modules/pages/popup_image/header_php.php on line 42. I checked this file and this is because of Image Handler 4. I'll look into this error.

I turned strict error reporting on and there were no errors being displayed on the screen where the page displays the drop down menu for subcategories, and then nothing else. I also noticed that on pages where subcategory products are not being displayed, only the manufacturer drop down menu, the footer is missing.

Yet, on other pages when you click on subcategories and the products are displayed, the footer is working.

I checked the view source on pages that were not working and the last line is <br class="clearBoth" /> which is right after the manufacturer drop down form. The source page is blank after that - there is no </html> at the bottom of the page.

On pages that are working, after the <br class="clearBoth" />, the pages has <div id="productListing"> and then the page has everything that is supposed to be listed and the </html> tag is closed.

I don't think that the file is corrupted because otherwise it should not work for any subcategory. But that it is working for some and not others is completely baffling. Any input or ideas - I will appreciate it.
