Changing from domain.com/shop to domain.com

Trying to do exactly what's in the subject line, namely making the zen cart at the root of the domain instead of at thevaporisland.com/shop. There are some static pages someone designed that I want to get rid of and just use ez pages within the admin. Right now those static pages are at the root of the domain and the shop lives at /shop. I would like to throw away the static pages and just make the shop the root.

As for the hard-coded links, we'll need to see the site to advise. If the hard-coded pages are EZ pages, all you'll have to do is change the paths in Admin - Tools - EZ Pages.

After reading that article, I understand that I need to change the session section in admin to point to this:
/home/content/57/10703557/html/cache

instead of this:
/home/content/57/10703557/html/shop/cache

then move EVERYTHING up one directory? Is that correct?

then change the config files. Sound about right?

Yup. That sounds about right.

PLEASE make sure you backup the entire site before doing any of this though. Having a backup will ensure things will go smoothly and the backup won't be needed. Without a backup something is sure to go wrong. Murpheys Law.
