How can I set up multiple U.S. Shipping Zones by Weight

I am trying to figure out how to set up shipping to meet our requirements. The shipping cost needs to be calculated by weight using a cost per pound formula. We also need to set up different zones within the U.S. and Canada and each zone will have a different cost per pound.

For example, the shipping cost for eastern U.S. states may be $1 per pound, for the west coast it might be $0.40 per pound and for central states it might be $0.60 per pound. So shipping costs for a 100 pound item should be $100 (=100 lb. * $1 per pound) to ship to eastern states, $60 to central states and $40 to ship to west coast. A 150 pound item would be $150 to east coast, $90 to central and $60 to west coast.

How do I set this up? I know how to set up the shipping by weight globally but not sure how to do this for different zone. Everything that I see on the internet about shipping zones shows the shipping table with weight as limits (i.e. 25:8.50,50:12.00) not price per pound.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what kind of Products you ship but ... based on the weight and zone issues why wouldn't the solution be to just use USPS and UPS/FedEx as your solution?

Then just toss the weight in the Product on the Product weight and make the order and let USPS/UPS and/or FedEx figure out the rest for you? :lookaroun

Re: How can I set up multiple U.S. Shipping Zones by Weight

The products are furniture items and are fairly heavy crated products so they are shipped using a freight/trucking company. Any ideas of how to tackle this?
