Responsive Sheffield Blue v1.0

dinki:

This is most excellent! Thank you again. The only small issue I see is that the 'ribbon' portion of the background is shifted a bit too far down on both sides. This is definitely not a showstopper but is a bit inconsistent with what's going on with the Footer menu bar.

BTW, do you accept Paypal donations? If so, can you post/PM a link?

It looks fine in chrome. What browser are you using?

If you see the readme file for this template you will see the donation link.

Thanks,

Anne

I'm using Chrome and also checked in FF. Take a look at this screen shot showing mine and your demo:

I've highlighted the area I'm talking about with a red circle on the right.

If you see the readme file for this template you will see the donation link.

I found it. The button was way too big and was in a very obvious location, I guess that's why I didn't see it. ;)

You can line up the centerbox ribbon and sidebox ribbon by changing the margin-top to 30px for #moduleMenu-wrapper in stylesheet_module_tabs.css

Thank you so much for the donation, I really appreciate it!

Thanks,

Anne

I hate to keep pestering you, but the above change did not seem to make any difference in the position.

I looked at installing the addon for Chrome you mentioned (Web Developer), but I'm not certain how to use it to diagnose problems like these.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v1.0

can you tell me how to do this because i dont see this file in the package.

Unzip the template package using your favorite unzip utility.

In the template package go to responsive_sheffield_blue/files

Rename the folder YOUR_ADMIN_FOLDER to your admin folder name.

The YOUR_ADMIN_FOLDER/layout_controller file is a core overwrite. It will allow you to hide/show side boxes at min-width from the ADMIN > TOOLS > LAYOUT BOXES CONTROLLER page. Be sure to back up this file before you upload the template package.

the folder YOUR_ADMIN_FOLDER is responsive_sheffield_blue/files/admin1 in the package. Rename "admin1" to your actual admin folder name.

Yes, it is. YOUR_ADMIN_FOLDER /layout_controller.php

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v1.0

Hello everyone. I've just installed this template and I just love it! I've been working on this for 2 days and have one little problem. When I display my website on an Android phone, none of the mobile image icons show up (i.e., Home, Menu, etc.). I've searched high and low and just can't seem to figure this out. My site is https://www.couponcarryout.com.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Please cancel this request, I have figured it out. For some reason, my includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/responsivesheffield_blue/responsive_sheffield_blue_defines.php had uploaded as "responsive_sheffield_blue_defin". Once I replaced the file I was all set!

But I do have one more issue- on IE8, the search box appears in the middle of the screen, and the titles in the footer menu don't display. I had the search box issue in Chrome and Firefox and read an earlier post to change the stylesheet to:

#navMainWrapper {margin:-110px 20px; width:60%;}

This resolved the search box issue in Chrome and Firefox, but not in IE8. If anybody has any ideas, I'd be most grateful.

You can target ie8 by adding your rules to the stylesheet as .ie8 selector {declaration}

Thanks,

Anne

Hi Anne, thanks so much for the response. I did see the section in the stylesheet, but unfortunately I have no idea how to fix it. I see the demo works fine in ie8 - is there any way you can share any ie8 additions to that style sheet?

I no longer cross browser test for ie8. They are down to just about 1% off the browser market:

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v1.0

Hi Ann,

I'm having problem getting Sheffield Blue Responsive to actually be responsive.
Text runs over the edge, or just can't be seen and the people have to scroll sideways.
I don't have a mobile device to check all this with. I've asked friends to send me photos/screen shots of what they see, and it's not good.
My website is www.jenvinemporium.com.au/new_store
I have followed all your instructions to the letter.

If you search the thread or read the earilier posts you will find a patch for a bug that breaks the responsive layout that is related to the header and the tagline.

Thanks,

Anne

The problem is NOT with the header or Tagline, the problem is with text running off the side of the page and the person having to turn the mobile device sideways.
I have attached a couple of pics to show you what I mean.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v1.0

I have a similar problem and havn't been able to locate a fix for it.

The site looks all good in landscape mode on the iPad (and I'm assuming all other mobile devices) but in portrait mode there are a few things that don't line up - see images below.

I believe that the fix I posted will fix these problems.

In portrait mode the left hand column should not be showing. Is the responsive layout broken?

Thanks,

Anne

If that's the case, yes it must be broken because the left column is always showing. How can I tell if it is broken and where do I look for it?

In layout settings where it says to activate Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths, I have that set to 2. I tried all the different sizes and while it looked a little better in portrait mode (although still all over the place), changing these widths change how it looks on the desktop (for the worse).

It may just be me, but seems that if the left column is always showing no matter what size display nor device, then that's an issue of not incorporating the responsive template code correctly or haven't setup the side boxes appropriately.
