Moving cart to sub domain

I need to move my cart to a sub domain 'shop.domain.com', it will be a directory under the current domain on the server. is the tutorial 'I want to move my Zen Cart installation to another host or a different server' what I should follow or is there a better way for this situation?

Thanks,

Rob

In principle it is the same procedure. Read that tutorial over and over......

Short version:

Back up everything!

Create the new sub domain on your server.

Make a fresh installation (using the same ZC version as in your original shop) in 'shop.domain.com' including new DB. Ensure that everything works as desired.

Export your original DB as per instructions in the tutorial.

Then copy your original file set to the sub domain (minus the 2 configure.php files - make sure they remain read-only so they can't be overwritten), import the original DB into the newly created (subdomain) DB, test..... and you should be right.

If anything goes wrong then you still have your original shop running and fully functional - and you have your backups.

Good Luck / Frank

Thanks! Wanted to make sure there wasn't a short cut I didn't know about!
