Any way to set an old product as NEW again?

Hi there,

I am wondering if there is any easy way to set a product as newly added after it had already been listed long past it's "new" duration.

The reason for this is because I offer pre-orders for products anywhere from 1-6 months in advance, which fall under "New" after they are added, but by the time the product comes out they have already fallen off the "New" status. I would like to know if I can easily mark it as "New" again through admin. I know that it uses the date added to determine if a product is new, so is there any way to change the date added field of a product through the admin section?

Right now I have resorted to modifying the SQL database manually, which I really don't like having to do every time. I also don't want to have to re-add the product to the store as a new item, as I have ads running that link directly to products and such (and hopefully people bookmarking them too), that changing the item number will severely mess up.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

You can either use phpMyAdmin or the Tools ... Install SQL Patches ... and after you know the products_id use something like:

UPDATE products SET products_date_added = '2013-10-24 00:00:00' WHERE products_id=6;

where you can just change the products_date_added to what you need and state the products_id ...

Another method would be to add an addition to the choices of what you can do to the Catalog/Products to have a new icon to click on and have it run that code for you based on either the current date, or get a bit more elaborate where it lets you enter the new date ...
