Rapid Index - Good or Bad?

I just signed with Host Gator for a penny for the first month and I was looking over some of the services they offer. They offer something called Rapid Indexing which they sum up like this:

Site Submission and Rapid Indexing - The SEO Gears Rapid Indexing services help you get listed in Google, Yahoo and Bing within days, not months. These major search engines cover approximately 85% of all search traffic. Once indexed with these major search engines, other search engines will automatically pick up your sites as well.

This service is $14.95/yr and they have pricier packages which offer additional services. For example, the $50/yr plan includes "tools for discovering potential sites to link to."

I have never heard of rapid indexing and was wondering if anyone could offer some feedback. Host Gator is using SEOGears.com to offer this service.

Pretty sure it is the same thing as "Search Engine Submission"

You can do this for FREE yourself and a good place to start would be Google:
http://www.google.com/submityourcontent/website-owner/

I checked that link and I see the submit your site info. Is it possible that it could be indexed quicker using that service?

IMO, no.

And once you submit to Google, other search engines will soon follow.
