template monster define main page no longer active

Hi

I purchased and installed atemplate from template monster recently (theme product code 46175
)

I would like to use the define page editor to specify the main page but this function does not work
The index/home page is:
http://www.baitworks.co.uk/zensportstemplateDec2013/

when I go to the Define Pages Editor, for the main page the address is:
public_html/zensportstemplateDec2013/includes/languages/english/html_includes/theme746/define_main_page.php

other pages :
public_html/zensportstemplateDec2013/includes/languages/english/html_includes/define_about_us.php

please can anyone help?

thanks

Derek

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

Help with what, exactly? It appears that the geniuses at Template Monster copied define_main_page.php into the override folder for the template, but not the other files. What is it you can't do that you want to do ?

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

Hi Stevesh - thanks for the reply

I want the home page to look like:
http://www.baitworks.co.uk/zensportstemplateDec2013/index.php?main_page=page&id=11

and not:
http://www.baitworks.co.uk/zensportstemplateDec2013/index.php?main_page=index

I am used to using define page editor to specify the main page but this function does not work

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

The Define Page Editor does work on template-specific versions of define pages, so /includes/languages/english/html_includes/theme746/define_main_page.php should work correctly, and affect the define_main_page for that template only.

So how does it "not work"? Does it act like it is saving, but the changes don't show up? If you reopen it in the editor, do previous edits remain in the file?

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

thanks for your response

when I open main page in the define pages editor, the address is:
Editing file:
/home/wwwbait/public_html/zensportstemplateDec2013/includes/languages/english/html_includes/theme746/define_main_page.php

and the previously saved html code is still present
this code can be seen:
http://www.baitworks.co.uk/zensportstemplateDec2013/index.php?main_page=page&id=11
where I have set up an EZ page on the home section of the header menu

the home page:
http://www.baitworks.co.uk/zensportstemplateDec2013/index.php?main_page=index
has not got this content

thanks

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

  • If you open

/home/wwwbait/public_html/zensportstemplateDec2013/includes/languages/english/html_includes/theme746/define_main_page.php

in a text editor is there any text present

  • In includes/filenames.php do you have

define('FILENAME_DEFINE_MAIN_PAGE', 'define_main_page');

?

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

I don't suppose Admin>Configuration>Define Page Status>>Define Main Page Status is set to zero?

Otherwise I'm not sure.

I think I had something similar happen to me but for the life of me I can't remember why?

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

Perhaps try

Delete the template define_main_page at

/home/wwwbait/public_html/zensportstemplateDec2013/includes/languages/english/html_includes/theme746/define_main_page.php

so that it defaults to /home/wwwbait/public_html/zensportstemplateDec2013/includes/languages/english/html_includes/define_main_page.php

and see if that has any effect.

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

My final thought is to compare your code to the original Zencart file set in includes\modules\pages\index\header_php.php

around line 43 where it calls FILENAME_DEFINE_MAIN_PAGE

thanks Simon

I've tried your suggestions but still no good - my knowledge of the zen cart structure is not good enough to check out your last thought

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

OK, I am also having a problem with the define page editor----ALL define pages.

Going to the editor then choosing any of them offered therein...all state that I am going to edit the original ones and none are showing the files in the classic folder.

I don't know why but I am.

I post in this thread due to the idea that I used the classic template folder because none of his previous monster template files would work....so I set them inside the classic folder---do you think that may be the reason we are having this issue.

I upgraded to 1.5.1 and am sure the entire store functions correctly but the monster files are in the process of being compared to the original store files for other changes they may have edited into their coding...which really screws up stores...and keeps us from applying plug ins without a lot of hair pulling.

Dark Angel, yes. The location of the files is relative to the define editor's ability to see them and make changes to the current template selected. PM me if you'd like me to sort it out for you tonight, I've a few minutes to spare :)

Thanks Twitchtoo

Let tell ya this upgrade is driving me insane...LOL more than I already am that is.

I got tired of seeing them pint to originals no matter what I did soooo, I added a number 1 at the end of the classic folder, then refreshed the page for the store.

After seeing the default main page I then created a brand new classic folder....added the main page file in there and refreshed the store----YAY it worked I saw the main page as it should be.

Went to admin---which I might add that it takes more than 15 minutes to do anything anymore so needless to say I had to log back in...grrrr

in admin I then went to tools/define_page_editor and yay the link about the html box now says the path to the classic folder....but the joy ends there

seems that the store does recognize the classic html files but not the editor.

When I choose the one for checkout success in the editor it shows it as a blank page but the text is in the file on the server. Same for the other pages when chosen in editor they are blank...not the define main page just the rest of them.

I have no clue why....any ideas or should I just copy/paste the text from the file into the page on the editor.

Another thing I have noticed is that he had an iframe code at the bottom of the main page but it does not show the info he supplied for it

<iframe scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border-width: medium; border-style: none; border-color: -moz-use-text-color; width: 292px; display: none; height: 287px; overflow: hidden;" src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?id=122776614418251&width=292&connections=5&stream=false&header=true&height=287" allowtransparency="true" abfacebookconnect="1"><img style="PADDING-LEFT: 1px; WIDTH: 45px; PADDING-RIGHT: 1px; BACKGROUND: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; HEIGHT: 20px; CURSOR: pointer" id="abFacebookConnectFrame_0" src="data:image/png;base64,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" width="45" height="20" abfacebookconnect="1" abpl="1" /></b></p></body>
</html></iframe></b></p>

Does iframe not work in this version anymore?

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

I'm going to repeat myself here, your site sounds a bit messy on the back end. There's a simple working flow that seems to be misaligned, I offered to look into the files and line up the gears. Aside from a functioning site, we will all be able to properly troubleshoot current and future problems. The classic template should be left unchanged, your_template should be the only files changed/fixed/updated and the admin will see the changes.

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

I do not see how things got messed up back there, I have edited the classic themes in other stores that I have installed from scratch or upgraded, so I am not totally new at this...just feel like it right now with this ignorant store.

What do you need to check things out

http://js2k.com

that is the link

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

You can edit the /classic/ files directly and have a working store, but you then have no fallback template to help troubleshooting, and risk losing your customizations when you upgrade. Even copying all /classic/ files/folders to /classic2/ or whatever name you like before modifying them will cover you.

ok then I shall go in there and create a new theme folder with a different name...LOL

thanks, maybe that will help it to see the text in the files.

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

well I went in there and made all his store template files into a new folder but define pages editor does acknowledge them being in the new folder when I click on the actual one to edit--- like define checkout success, it is blank in admin but the actual file on the server has text.

Re: template monster define main page no longer active

ok, due to unforseen difficulties I had to run the updater for the config files again....grrrrr, this then claimed I had to update the database too, which it has previously claimed and bersion in admin claimed it was already patched to 1.5.1

so I was a good girl---mark that down in history cause it won't happen for another millenia

then I had to reinstall each and every plugin again...files were there but none were acknowledged so I basically just had to do their admin auto installers...whew

the define page editor still will not acknowledge that the files have text in them...the main page is fine and behaves but still nothing from that darn checkout success or others. text appears in store but not in editor.

checked log folder and here is the error found in there:

[29-Dec-2013 20:06:43 America/New_York] PHP Warning: htmlspecialchars() [<a href='function.htmlspecialchars'>function.htmlspecialchars</a>]: Invalid multibyte sequence in argument in /adminfolder/define_pages_editor.php on line 188

this is the code for that section with lines in red:

<tr>
          <td class="main"><b><?php echo TEXT_INFO_CAUTION . '<br /><br />' . TEXT_INFO_EDITING . '<br />' . $file . '<br />'; ?></b></td>
            </tr>
        <tr><?php echo zen_draw_form('language', FILENAME_DEFINE_PAGES_EDITOR, 'lngdir=' . $_SESSION['language'] . '&filename=' . $_GET['filename'] . '&action=save'); ?>
          <td><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2">
            <tr>
              [B]<td class="main"><?php echo zen_draw_textarea_field('file_contents', 'soft', '100%', '30', htmlspecialchars($file_contents, ENT_COMPAT, CHARSET, TRUE), (($file_writeable) ? '' : 'readonly') . ' id="file_contents"'); ?></td>[/B]
            </tr>
            <tr>
              <td><?php echo zen_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '1', '10'); ?></td>
            </tr>
            <tr>
              <td align="right"><?php if ($file_writeable) { echo zen_image_submit('button_save.gif', IMAGE_SAVE) . ' <a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFINE_PAGES_EDITOR, 'define_it=' .$_GET['define_it'] . '&action=new_page') . '">' . zen_image_button('button_reset.gif', IMAGE_RESET) . '</a>' . ' ' . '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFINE_PAGES_EDITOR . '.php') . '">' . zen_image_button('button_cancel.gif', IMAGE_CANCEL) . '</a>'; } else { echo '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFINE_PAGES_EDITOR, 'lngdir=' . $_SESSION['language']) . '">' . zen_image_button('button_back.gif', IMAGE_BACK) . '</a>'; } ?></td>
            </tr>
          </table></td>
        </form></tr>

I even uploaded a fresh file from the installer files
