Orders paid for by Paypal not appearing

I have 2 sites where, starting yesterday, orders paid for by Paypal are going through successfully to Paypal but the order is not appearing in Zen Cart Admin.

These 2 sites have been live for about 3 years with no problems and there have been no changes to either site for at least a year.

Does anyone know if Paypal have made any recent changes or have any other ideas what could suddenly be causing this?

I think your customers had completed the checkout however they close their browser (firefox, ie or chrome..) so your site can not get data from Paypal.

Paypal IPN (Standard) or Express ?

Thanks for your response - this may account for 1 or 2 failures but every order paid for by Paypal is failing to reach Zen Cart so I am sure not every customer is doing this. Also it has worked fine for 3 years so why would this suddenly start now?

I would switch to Express. It's possible some configuration setting or software version on your server is interfering with the outdated IPN connection method.

OK thanks for that. A couple of questions:

1. Is 1.3.9h compatible with Paypal Express?

2. When I go to install Paypal Express in Zen Cart there is a requirement for CURL (which I have never heard of) - do I need to check with my web host that this is active on the server?

3. Are there any other requirements as I can't remember why I didn't go for Express when these sites were first set up but it may have been to do with other requirements.

3. In the past, Express didn't allow people without Paypal accounts to use a credit card. That's no longer true. There is no reason I'm aware of to use IPN anymore.
