Re: Unable to login to admin

Ok not sure how that happened it posted while i was typing. bit of a pain as the title isn't accurate

I can login to admin but the index page is blank, HOWEVER if I use a link to a page from my history when logged in eg alt_nav.php

I can access that page and from there carry out the majority of my admin stuff

Any help appreciated

-------------- Please Mr Moderator if you can change the title to something more appropriate like
Admin index page blank but other admin pages work?

What do your error logs say? Sounds like something with the index.php file or a module loaded as a part of it.

Re: Unable to login to admin

The first post is what my error log says, Im not really sure what is causing it, normally when i have been mucking round trying out modules etc, i can roll back the changes, but in this case the changes were an altered payment module, which overwrote absolutely no core files, and i deleted the files and then checked the server to confirm the files were gone.

The other bit is I hadn't used the admin a couple of weeks, so i can't say for certain that that module caused the issue.
The module never actually installed, because admin never ran while its files were there if you know what i mean

Sorry, had asked because wasn't sure what happened in the first two posts. :)

Alright, so while not logged into the admin panel, and without ever going to the admin directory, the files for this payment module were loaded into the admin side of the website (I assume that there were also files loaded on the store side of the site, which would get "loaded" when anyone accessed the site.)

Additionally, it seems as you may not be sure how long there has been an issue with your admin panel, as it is not clear when the issue appeared, other than it may have been a result of the attempted installation of a sample plug-in on a live site.

The backup/restoration process that you use: does it remove extra files that are there now but weren't, or does it only rewrite the data of files that have changed?

Has something about your host changed? Such as php version? The running out of memory issue has been something discussed recently, but seems to creep up on some carts while not when the cart is installed directly as provided. (Ie, vanilla install, etc...)

Re: Unable to login to admin

No files were changed during the "install" of the mod just a couple were added, and those were removed, i also verified via cpanels filemanager that the files were in fact gone

Well I just used winmerge to compare my files with a new untouched install, there were a number of differences but those were from mods that have been there for a while, anyway i overwrote my files with the fresh files and its all working again.

I am going to re-add all my mods one by one to see if I can find where it broke and if it doesn't break i'll try my new mod again

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully has/will go quickly. :)
