Going Live testing - jacksonelectronics.co

I've been playing with Zen-Cart for quite some time now. 4 years or so. I've been a little gun shy from getting my site going until lately. I'm a bit nervous getting it out there and having any major problems.

I was wondering if some of you good people of zen-cart would take a moment to try my website out and let me know if you notice any major flaws. I appreciate it in advance and look forward to your feedback. Rob Jackson owner of http://www.jacksonelectronics.co

Re: Going Live testing - jacksonelectronics.co

that is odd. It does for me. Wonder if it is an international problem or maybe my inventory files were updating in the middle of the night? Thanks for the heads up. Maybe you could check again?

I can get to your home page (eventually)
Then all your links have "authsafe(dot)com" in it. So you are on some sort of subdomain???
As well all of your links are rewritten as well???
I can't get any "other" page to load except your home page.
They time out for me. I am in Oz.

The site is working, but it's as slow as molasses in winter.

Way too slow to generate any sales in my opinion.

Cheers

I think your site is good although you are missing many important modules.

Re: Going Live testing - jacksonelectronics.co

I agree that it is too slow. I use a company to upload my distributors inventory and this is one of their templates. Likely too many products for the site to run fast. I'll have to take some out. After removing some of the wasteland inventory items. Is there a tool I should run to cleanup the database?

What modules are missing?

Guys, Really, Thank You for the time looking at this for me. I'm certainly no PHP Zenner and know your time is valuable.

Re: Going Live testing - jacksonelectronics.co

You should turn on the GZip feature and see how much that helps the speed on your site ...

Re: Going Live testing - jacksonelectronics.co

The site is OK. I'm seeing the authsafe part of all URLs except the main page too. I'd work on getting rid of that first. The site is a little sluggish here. If you try pruning products, concentrate on eliminating categories first. A large number of categories will slow Zencart down.

You're in a tough, tough business, with millions of competing sites, not to mention Amazon and NewEgg. I wish you luck.

Re: Going Live testing - jacksonelectronics.co

Thanks Steve.

The computer related products is only the start of what I have planned. I hope to added in other high tech electronics (CNC, Steppers etc..) and hobby shop type products at some point. The slow running is concerning to me as well. My host I believe is adding the authsafe 'sub' domain info. What problems does this present? A lot of people seem to mention that but I'm unaware of the negative impact that presents.

It's mainly a marketing issue. You've paid good money to get your own domain name which is being wasted by having your customers see authsafe in all of your links and pages. It's almost certain to be detrimental for search engine listings as well. Effectively, you are losing your own branding.

Your site runs good, some suggestions for you

  1. add slider on mainpage
  2. simplefy Account registration
  3. Your mega keyword setting should be " xx, xx, xx, xx" not a whole sentence, it will be great all keywords included in your title
  4. add a online chat system
  5. If you have a slow business, go to apply Google AdSense
  6. add your company Google map on your "about us" or "contact us" page
  7. SSL? Maybe PayPal express checkout

Hope those can help you!
