Re: wierd problems with Zencart

Did you try deleting the image on the server then adding it back via your Admin?

What happens if you try a different image?

What is the extension of the "new" image? Are there file extension restrictions in your htaccess file(s)?

Ie, try to ensure extension is all lower case. (Don't remember seeing this discussed here) hope not a duplicate.

Re: wierd problems with Zencart

That's half the problem ..when you press preview on the product it doesn't upload ,so the image doesn't go to the database ... I already tried that after I had deleted via ftp and it doesn't show up there

but .jpg

Have you updated IH to the most recent version? I see that it is back on, and the poodle image appears to be "corrected". I've run across this problem before "temporarily" but haven't fully figured out what conditions must be met to get into this quandry.

Might suggest uploading an image for the images/no_image file that way a customer might at least see something other than an x'd product.

Re: wierd problems with Zencart

it's not done via products ..I've sorted it by uploading image via ftp finding the correct path and placing it in the correct place in teh database ..
Like I say it's sorts this image out but can't carry on like that with about 500 images..

I'm to scared to update it in-case I stuff up my website completely  lol

Make a backup of your site and setup a "test" location (better on a local machine. Then you can play and make mistakes all you want until you get it right. Then upload the changed files to their correct location(s).

Having a slightly older version shouldn't affect that core functionality, unless there was an update to 1.5.1 from pre-1.5.0 and the appropriate IH program wasn't updated. (Not sure how much an impact that would be either, but...)

As far as IH, it is supposed to supplement the existing image handling process not rework it/take it over, etc...

You didn't happen to have two images of the same base image name in that directory and possibly different extensions did you?

I don't recall seeing anything that would lead me to that other than the image clash problem of uploading. No spaces in the filename either?

Haven't looked at the site since you reuploaded/updated IH, but in doing so did you re-incorporate your imagebox as well? Thought I saw either colorbox or imagebox installed earlier. (If followed ih instructions from start to finish, the answer would be yes, but thought I would ask just in case. I know you've been through a lot today.)

Nothing wrong with this suggestion, but I've been a huge fan of IH for many years now, and I've never known it to be the cause of any problems.

After reading all the posts in this thread I'm inclined to think it is most likely to be server related, or more specifically, a shortage of storage space. This is little more than a hunch though.

Cheers
Rod

Re: wierd problems with Zencart

hey ,don't think I have either of those installed ,but it does seem to be working OK ,only time will tell..
Hey Rodg Don't think it was shortage of space as I have unlimited storage ,but more likely a database issue somewhere which was fixed when I updated IH

I agree, and was thinking the same thing at one point (storage space). I'm a little surprised that upgrading fixed the issue. Regarding space, unless the bmz_cache directory got unruly large, I thought that IH has grown a little over time, so would have been surprised that could install again if space was an issue. Seems hard to know exactly what went on, but seems that OP feels issue is resolved.

Your hosting plan may give you unlimited storage, but that won't prevent the server itself from running out of space.

I could well be wrong with this hunch, but I gave it a high possibility due to the failed backup task that you'd reported.

Andy-C27:

Although not important, I fail to see the logic involved here. My thoughts are that a failure to upload images, and a failed backup (which are unrelated in most respects) will have a common point of failure if there isn't enough disk space available to handle the tasks. Furthermore, if this is the case, the fact that you are using a shared server would imply that the host would have received an alert about the situation and probably have taken steps to rectify it at around the same time you've been looking for your own fix.

Cheers

I was actually thinking more about the space available on the drive that holds the /tmp/ files rather than the one used for storing the site pages. PHP file uploads are generally saved to the /tmp/ folder before being moved to their final location. The failure of the backup files (mentioned earlier) would also generally use the /tmp/ folder for archiving the data before the actual backup takes place.

IMO, this would be one of the few things that would cause all the problems mentioned.

Andy-C27:

Nope. I'm talking about the system wide /tmp/ folder, which you won't have access too, and with most good hosts is located on a drive all by itself.

You can probably check to see how much space is used on the /tmp/ disk/folder from your cPanel's 'Server status'.

Not much point checking it if the host has already resolved the problem though, but it could be something worth looking at if the problems re-occur.

Cheers
RodG

ps. almost anything in your httpdocs /tmp/ folder can be safetly deleted.
