display only sub-categories of category X

I have two top level categories - men, and women. How can I show only the sub-categories of men on the 'men' category page? I am hand coding the links to the sub-categories because I am using some custom links, so I guess my problem really is to do with layout, in that when someone goes to the 'men' page, I don't want the sub-categories of 'women' appearing there. And so on.

Easy enough on a page with its own css, but I can't do that here...

The zen cart default had supported that. I do not know why it does not work for you :)

Actually, you can, but I don't understand your issue. A link to your site would help.

Re: display only sub-categories of category X

The site is

www .124shoes .com .au

What I want to do is from that page have, say, the 'men' link lead to the /men sub-category (it is using Ceon SEO) and on that page display in essence what currently is /men/all. But on that page I want to appear in the left margin - in the standard sense - the list of /men/(sub-cats), which is hard coded, and no other categories. So, the /men page shows men's sub-cats only, and the women's page shows women's sub-cats only.

Am I making sense?

Thanks.

Re: display only sub-categories of category X

I'm not sure, but if you want to click on the Men category name at the top and have the Men subcategories display in the center column, you'll have to address that with the author of your template, who I suspect will be along directly. The fact that you can't do what you want to results from the way the menu is coded.

Re: display only sub-categories of category X

Sorry Stevesh,

I'm not being very clear in my explanation. what i want to do is have the /men page appear with the /men/sub-cats appearing as links in the left column, and only the /men/sub-cats appearing there. I am hard-coding the links, so I have circumvented the link generating code in mega_menu_php. And happy to do that. But I want to have only /men's links appearing in the column on the /men page (which will display the current /men/all - using Ceon SEO) and only /women/sub-cat links appearing on the /women page.

Re: display only sub-categories of category X

Found something in css_read_me.txt:

c_??_??.css // changes to all info pages in a category

but that won't help me with Ceon SEO changing page names I guess. Or do the standard page names remain functional and only get masked by Ceon SEO? One way to find out.

Or, use page_name.css. But what is the page name for, say, ... /online/women/?

Re: display only sub-categories of category X

CEON (and probably others too) leaves original ZC URLs functional, and code that uses standard Zen functions will work correctly.
c_??_??.css will work for pages of the specified category as usual. It is not processed by the URL but by internal code which knows what the cPath is.
