Twitch Restrict Categories by Customer or Group

jodean:

I did not insert the code myshelf. I merged the twitch files code with the existing 1.51 code. Do you have any idea which code that I need to look at?

Did you follow the step by step instructions or use a file comparison program?

I use Beyond Compare 4.

Use the install instructions, they have reference line numbers and coding examples to 'show you' where the code goes as comparing the files is less reliable as it would seem...

The file that's looping looks like includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/categories_tabs.php

that means there's a coding error in it, or in the file that* loads* it.

Re: Twitch Restrict Categories by Customer or Group

It is working better than it was however the categories sidbox display the links for New Products and All Products which allows the guest to access those products which are under categories which should be surpressed. Should these links be surpressed?

See example

This has been repaired in the 1.54 version. If you extract the code for each of the modules/ and modules/pages/ related to the upcoming products, featured, all new, etc it will work in your Zen 1.51.

So that is, open Twitch Restrict for 1.54, find the modules/new_products.php and modules/pages/new_products/header_php.php and add the code. There was little to no change in these core files from 1.51 - 1.54.

Re: Twitch Restrict Categories by Customer or Group

Hi, love how this works after install. I just have one small problem the categories links are no longer styled by the css for the sidebox. The Categories header is fine and everything after if fine. Site https://www.quantumhealing.club/Club/index.php?main_page= using cart version1.5.4, dover_fine_1.1 template, Image Handler, zen lightbox and add customer from admin plugins. Any suggestions for this problem?

Without seeing the before and after or the code your template is using to populate the sidebox I would guess that you need to add in the CSS container tags around the new 'Twitch Restrict' code. This would call the CSS you once had and apply it to the 'new' hard code to produce fancy links :)

Re: Twitch Restrict Categories by Customer or Group

Hello,
I need help!
I have read for quite a few hours on Zencart forums and the install info on various plugins trying to find a way to implement something on my cart.

I need to exclude products (NOT the category) from purchase for a select group.
I currently have a wholesale group and a retail group. Wholesale pricing has been set up using Dual Pricing plugin.
I need the wholesale group to NOT be able to purchase some items within select categories.

I thought this plugin would maybe do that, but I can't seem to verify by reading everything. The author of this plugin also mentioned in the forum a couple years somewhere that they were working on exclude product function, but I can't find a follow up to that.

Zen cart version 1.5.1

Thanks in advance for any leads on how to do this!

Wildfield, you'll want this:

Twitch Wholesale | Retail Product Control Switch
https://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?216976-Twitch-Wholesale-Retail-Product-Control-Switch&highlight=twitch

It integrates into Twitch Wholesale seamlessly.

You're welcome to contact me to discuss integrating it into your cart :)

P.S. It's backwards compatible with older zen versions if you weren't planning to upgrade just yet.

Is this module compatible with Twitchtoo Wholesale+Attributes module? I mean can I have them both installed?

Yes they work without issue when installed together correctly :)

Re: Twitch Restrict Categories by Customer or Group

Hello,

The module is working great, but it's not filtering the products when you ask to see the manufacturers product listing. How to solve?

I would need to see a bit more to answer this...? Twitch Restrict doesn't perform the task of filtering products in the product listing base code. It only decides if you are allowed to see it or not. So, is this a zen base code problem with the default template or is Twitch Restrict not allowing you to see the filtered data?

The problem is:
I have "Category B" as a Group Category (needs to be login to see that category). The products aren't showing on specials, new, featured, searches, etc. BUT if I select a manufacturer then the products that are hidden in that "Category B" are shown on the product listing, which is not supposed to because I'm not logged in.

Do you understand the issue now?

Yes, the Twitch Restrict Filter Code needs to be added to that manufacturer output loop. Either on the page you're trying to filter or if it's driven by a function - wrapped around the function itself.

Re: Twitch Restrict Categories by Customer or Group

I'm looking for a way to have a category of products visible to guests, but when you login to purchase, you can only successfully checkout if you are in a particular group. Would this mod achieve this?

Yes, perhaps?

Currently there is no particular switch dedicated to controlling if you can **checkout **or not.

The switches used here rely on customer groups and category groups.

Example:

  • Guest makes an account and becomes a member.
  • You decide what that member sees regarding categories and the products within.
  • So, You decide that this new member is going to be in CatGroup10.
  • You can set say *potatoes *and *cucumbers *to CatGroup10.
  • All the other vegetables are in other CatGroups, like *peas *are in **CatGroup11 **and *beets *are in CatGroup15.

So the new member of **CatGroup10 **can only see 'taters and cukes'.

Maybe next week they want to buy the *peas *they saw before they were 'members'. You could change the group the new member is in or change the category restriction.

Other cart/category/product splitting options are available related to ***pricing ***with Twitch Wholesale + Attributes and the WS/RT Product Control Switch.

**
I could point the code at a new control switch in the shopping cart gateway that would literally do what you asked.

So if you could clarify or would like to contact me to discuss feel free :)

**

Re: Twitch Restrict Categories by Customer or Group

Does this addon still allow group only products to be seen to guests, but then become hidden once logged in if not in the correct group?

Essentially I don't want to force my customers to log in to have to browse these products, I want them visible by all, but then if you login to purchase and you aren't in the group the product gives a note that it can't be purchased, like a not enough stock warning on the checkout page.

It could yes with one small change...

We could make any assortment of messages to display to the guests or specific members about the products. Ideally **before **they have anything in the cart as once it's there MORE code would be needed to filter it out before they proceeded into the cart any further. Especially if they jumped one of the cart pages and 'missed' a 'removal filter'.

It seems to me we would need to modify the code just a bit to offer the add to cart button, or not, based on your groups/restrictions. That would allow all of the groups to work as normal, products would display exactly the way you wanted and the checkout wouldn't need any filters or alterations :)
