therummagehole:
The item that I linked to in my original post that is not working should be showing 2 option names, Size and Colour. Size has 3 values: 2 seater, 3 seater and 3 seater sofabed (with price increase on the last 2). Colour has 4 options: red, black, brown, ivory (with no price increases).

The stock by attributes is showing all variations as being stock.

twitchtoo:
Previously I had problems with SBA and one of the database tables. There is a bug in the code that left a comma in the field data that was referencing the various option names/values. There is no error and it's seemingly random. No changes one day, the next your missing attributes.
I regularly had to scan the database table and manually correct the field data. Funding was cut on the project so no static solution was developed.
I'd like to warn about too general of a discussion on SBA. ZC at last check recognized I think 4 or 5 versions of SBA and basically have stopped accepting any new submissions that aren't versions off of those. Some have been able to handle conditions/situations as described, some have minor bugs when changing quantities if the attributes were not entered in a specific sequence, etc...the version I use doesn't include the java script display of products in stock, because I removed it and there were limitations that didn't go well with the store.
So, it would seem that the version installed (and suggest finding out) doesn't play well at least in part with multiple option names. I seem to recall reading that one of them worked with 3 or more option names, but not with two. You could test this by creating a single option name that has a single value (therefore would have 3 option names, but only 2 would require adjustment by the customer.) It's a shot in the dark/test, but it may also revive the attributes
Situation/logic was described, that it split the option names into three categories, first name, last name, and all names in between. But for some reason the logic wasn't worked out properly to handle a case where last was the same as middle, first was the same as middle, or middle just didn't exist...at any rate, it seemed to cause the quantity to be reported as out-of-stock, and if not mistaken when an attributed item is out of stock, then the attribute selection(s) disappear which means basically can't buy the product as there is nothing in stock..
