Display of products in tabular form

The concerned site is regarding sale of articles (essays) and so making more sense to display products (which in this case is title of articles) in tabular form with columns such as the following:

Name of article (hyperlinked to page where the article is published for more info about the content)
Price for Exclusive Use
Price for Shared User

Is it possible? Thanks in advance.

Yes it is, unfortunately I have just now forgotten the name of the plugin that exists to support it, but check the plugins for something with column in the title. There are several themes that now support it, for example the responsive sheffield blue template has that feature built in and the readme even states what the plugin is called, but I don't have access at the moment.

Re: Display of products in tabular form

First, you want to install Column Layout Grid from Plugins.

The dual pricing is not a stock feature, but could be handled in a few ways. Adding one of the options to the cart directly from the product listing (where alll the products are displayed) would require some complex and advanced coding to process attributes on the listing page (they are generally handled only on the individual product info page). People have discussed doing this in forum threads, but don't think about it unless you are quite competent with PHP.
You could easily make each product description mention the second price, and have the customer go to the product info page to choose one or the other. (This would be using attributes for pricing.)
There are dual pricing mods in Plugins, and one might be able to handle your situation... look around and see.

Re: Display of products in tabular form

I'm reasonably biased... Twitch Wholesale + Attributes :)
http://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1771

Retail Price, Wholesale Price
or in your case
Shared User Price, Exclusive Price

Works with...

Column Layout Grid 2.3.1

Re: Display of products in tabular form

That looks great for what it does, but will it work for allowing all customers to select either the shared or exclusive option for any product? I don't think the OP's idea is to have different classes of customer.

Re: Display of products in tabular form

If restrictions are needed for products there's Twitch Restrict or if alternatives are needed, use of the wholesale filter ON the product page is possible.

Twitch Wholesale filters customers and prices, Twitch Restrict filters categories and products.

This was my first post. I am amazed with the response. Thanks and would be returning with more queries as I work on the project.

Re: Display of products in tabular form

I am trying to install Column Layout Grid. I went to SQL Install Patches under Tools and used the upload feature. I tried installing both as it is and after extracting the file. But I could not find a message that confirms or denies whether the upload is successful. Also, how do I check the names of plugins/modules already installed? I have read somewhere that I also need to make some changes via FTP. Is there any tutorial for someone new with ZenCart and minimal knowledge in programming. Thanks in advance.

Re: Display of products in tabular form

What exactly did you try to upload through Install SQL Patches? You need to unzip the package before uploading anything, and you only use Install SQL Patches for the SQL install file. It is also reportedly more reliable to copy and paste the SQL into the textbox there, rather than use the file upload feature.

The FTP is not an "also", but the primary way to upload the main files of a mod to your server.

There are many tutorials available in FAQ at the top of this page.
