V 1.3.9g Problems Displaying the £ sign in the Product info Box.

Hi I am new to this forum so please excuse me if I am in the wrong one.

I have been using Zencart Version 1.3.9g for quite a number of years now. Up to now it has been very good and reliable.

I did not first install the software, it was a IT company that we used to use did.

My problem is this. When you fill in the product description box to advertise the product, if I put a £ sign in the text, ie to highlight a price, when I press the Update button all the text disappears, go back put the same text in without the £ sign again click update, the text will be there still as it should be and go live. This hasn't always been the case, it used to be fine. I can think of no reason why this problem has arisen.

I am the only one who uses this software so no one else has "messed" around with any settings. I haven't done any updates recently that could cause the problem.

Has anyone got any ideas please?

Hi I have just tried typing other symbols with in the text % etc and it allows me to upload the text without deleting it all after clicking the update button, as far as I can tell it is only the £ sign it doesn't like.

Hi Ajeh, thankyou very much for your reply. I have just tried £ and that was fine it uploaded no problem, But it would not allow the € sign, it just deleted all the text again.

What version of php are you running?

Erm I am not sure. Can you point me in the right direction please to find out?

Peek in the Admin Tools ... Server Info ...

You will see the top section with a lot of information and what would be helpful is from the Menu down to where it says the PHP version ...

You should also check what other errors you may come across with v1.3.9g/h with php v5.4 ...

Hi thanks for the pointers, it is all a bit over my head if I am honest. Do you think I need to roll back my server to 5.3? I followed the link in the 3rd reply, it tells you to add text but it doesn't say where I need to go to edit it?

Test the euro for € and the symbol € to see if it works. Test the pound for &pounds; and the symbol £ to see if it works.
