I'm looking for a chat plugin as well. The Olark Widget appears to also come with a price tag. The description in the Zen-Cart Plugins page says this:

With all of these features and a low monthly price, Olark is our number one pick when it comes to adding live chat to ecommerce websites.

I've searched this for a while now and most of the chat plugins don't show that they are compatible with ZenCart V. 1.5.1 or they involve a paid service. Is there such a thing as a truly free way to do live chat for customer assistance?

I searched for the "mibew" solution mentioned above but I didn't find anything for this.

Updated: I did find MIBEW on the web at large. I'm curious how this was integrated into Zen Cart? I'm going to download the package and play with it a little. Will report back if I use it.

You can install mibew in a seperate folder, on your server. Next you can generate a piece of code which you can coy and paste to a place you like in your shop

I took your advice and looked into MIBEW. After quite a bit of trial and error I was able to install it and get it up and running. Pretty nifty little system. Now, I want to put the button on my shop somewhere. Do you recommend doing with an EZ page and sidebox? I definitely want it in a side box, I think. I've been doing a lot of WordPress work lately, and I'm mixing up my sideboxes and widgets! :P

Hmm... well I tried adding the button code to and EZ page and then adding that as a sidebox. It didn't work as I expected and instead the box appeared as a list titled "Important Links" and then the name of my EZ Page under that. If I clicked on that, then the browser attempted to load the button but couldn't. I'm guessing it's because the mibew directory is not a sub directory of the zencart directory.

I'll have to see if I need to move the mibew directory inside the store directory or whether I can point the html to the root to look for the mibew stuff.

I'm sure I've done this with ZenCart before and just don't remember how, but can you have a sidebox which just has same html in it rather than a list of pages?
