Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Anyone familiar with the Raindrop theme? (@ themeforest by bitshok) I've submitted a ticket for support from the developer, but that's been a few days ago with no reply.

I'm having trouble with the footer displaying on the main page, as well as the header/slider images. Then, on each product page, the description, add to cart, etc is no longer visible. I've removed any manufacturers as support docs suggested for the footer problem, with no luck.

Any thoughts or suggestions on other things I might try?

I'm running version 1.5.1 and used ftp to upload the files if that helps. link: http://www.farmersapothecary.com/zencart

Thanks in advance!

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Have you checked your /logs folder for any myDEBUG*.log files? It looks like what you're experiencing is a "partial whitescreen", i.e. there's a PHP error in the footer.php script causing the content to not render.

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

There are some, but I'm not sure how to debug the bugs it returns.

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Post the contents of the newest error log file here, and we can probably help.

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Here's what it contained. I've tried reuploading the files in question, just in case there was an ftp error. No change, so it must be something with the coding itself in the files? If needed, I can paste the contents of the files mentioned in the log.

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

After some more tinkering, I got the footer to display on the main page. Yay!

But, if anyone has any ideas on the main page slider image(s) not displaying or where the heck my individual product descriptions might have gone, please let me know.

Thanks again!

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

your tpl_product_info_display.php is hiding all of your **product details **when viewing your page source...

<!--bof Product Name-->
<h1 id="productName" class="productGeneral">Paris Pendant on Ribbon</h1>
<!--eof Product Name-->
<div class="product_header clearfix">
    <div class="product_rating">
        </div>
    <!-- Product details list  -->
    <!--eof Product details list -->

<!--bof Quantity Discounts table -->
<!--eof Quantity Discounts table -->

<!--bof Prev/Next bottom position -->
<!--eof Prev/Next bottom position -->

<!--bof Product date added/available-->
<!--eof Product date added/available -->

<!--bof Product URL -->
<!--eof Product URL -->

<!--bof also purchased products module-->
<!--eof also purchased products module-->

I'm guessing they show up when you switch back to the Classic Green Template?

Thanks for checking it out. Indeed they do. What do you think would be the best way to fix that?

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

My guess at what happened:
1 - someone deleted the code
2 - the template is hiding the code
3 - there is an option from a recent module/template install turned off in admin if one exists
4 - the template install overwrote the code

To fix it:
I would merge the original product_info_display with a copy of the product_info_display provided with your template.

This assumes that 1 - 3 aren't the problem... that 4 is.

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Do you mean just swap out the template's product_info_display for the default template's coding? Wouldn't that break the new layout?
When I first installed the template, the descriptions showed up, and then through the course of my tinkering they disappeared. I have no idea what I tinkered with right before they disappeared either :(

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

You should always use a file comparison program to compare the old files to the new ones.

If the new template was working, find the original product_info file and replace the broken one, unless it had other problems right out of the box?

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

I've tried re-uploading the file itself, is that what you're meaning? I then replaced the product_info file on the template with the default code and it had no effect. I also ran the template's tpl_product_info_display file and the tpl_ file from another template through a file comparison program, but of course there were some differences based on layout? This is a little above my usual coding prowess I'm afraid. :dontgetit

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Well we could talk for days on the forum and keep guessing without seeing the actual code, or you could PM or email access to that **Twitch **guy that keeps fixing things around here ;)

Sometimes a little hands on help from a 'pro'grammer/'pro'fessor will help you learn there's nothing to be afraid of :)

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Having access to the files made all the difference... tpl_product_info_display.php was a mess!

Now showing:

  • Product Description
  • Social Media Bar
  • Price
  • Add to Cart Button

The Fix:
I took a stock product_info file and merged very carefully the good code from the raindrop template. The rest was left in a backup file ending with .phptwi

Be sure to download your own new copy of:
includes/templates/raindrop/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php
and
includes/templates/raindrop/css/stylesheet.css

Let me know if there's anything else you would like corrected on your product_info page.

I do appreciate your generosity for my time :) Thanks!

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Just a note that this theme is no longer for sale.
Ive purchased it and have converted it to use with 1.39h. But I would at times like to refer back to the live demo version to compare. Shame they pulled it down. Perhaps it was bought out on the option I see sometimes to have ownership of a theme and halt future sales of it.
Nice theme though.

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Indeed it has been pulled. Native support for the template from the designer was pretty non-existant though, I never would have gotten it working right if it weren't for Twitch's help.

Re: Raindrop Theme Troubleshooting

Hi,

I am also having issue with the Raindrop Theme and have had no response to any of my support emails and guess I never will now that it has been pulled.

I basically cannot get my additional product images to display or work out how to link the social media icons within the footer.

Any takers?

Would be very grateful.

Many thanks.

Denise.
