Can this be done, if so, How?

The website I'm adding the Zen Cart to is a Screenprinting Co. I've got the products (Tee Shirts) mostly figured out like, Size, color, price. What I need to be able to do is have an option where the customer can can add a name they would like to be on a shirt or shirts they are ordering and I need to be able to charge for each name above the shirt cost itself. I hope this can be done but need to know how to build this. Thank you, Sean

You would use a "text" type attribute for the shirts, priced by letter or word or however you want.

So, would assume that when you said that you got color, size, etc. All taken care of that you did that through the use of attributes. If so, then the name part would be similar (though I forget where each setting for price by word is), you would add an option name of something like:

Name (optional):

And set anything there that might indicate that the field is charge by word or similar and then when assigning the attribute to your product, set/verify set similar options including price per word. I can't remember if you need to also set in the product information that it is priced by attribute or not, so sorry for an incomplete answer, but that's in essence the method. But, yes it can be done.

Yes!
It sounds as though you have added attributes already.... add another one called personalizing.
When you add a new product, select yes for priced by attributes. Then go to your attributes controller, add personalizing to your option name, option value should be text, enter in a price and insert.

Hope that helps :)

After you create the option in Option Name Manager, "edit" it and you will see where you can adjust min/max and other aspects of the layout.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll work on that soon. I didn't realize I had any responses to the post. No e-mail notification was sent or I would have replied earlier. I'll let you know how I make out and if I have any more questions. Thanks, Sean

Re: Can this be done, if so, How?

I think I understand how to set this up but what if a customer chooses their size, color and logo and a quantity more than 1 and wants to add text to more than one shirt? Thanks, Sean

If everything is filled out on the screen and then they select multiple, they will get multiple of that item as is and pay multiples of the applicable price.

If they want multiple of an item but different content, then add each individual/different item to the cart. Pretty much so goes the online business. Some would say that the quantity box should be hidden on the product screen, because of this potential confusion.
