don't know what it's called

OK I'm a total newbie trying to figure out Zen Cart and this forum has been so much help.
I'm using Zen Cart 1.5.1
I am trying to change the background color, (the two side panels)
to a color with a pattern in it.
I tried changing the background but that changed only the top banner.
Can some one tell me what the side panels are called.
I have looked up information on side panels but it related to product images, not
the background.

Your css is controlling your background colour...
Body {
margin: 0px;
font-family: verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;
font-size: 62.5%;
color: #424;
background: url('../images/bk.png') repeat-x scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);

If you change the rgb/colour value, you will change the white 'side panels' but also the white that is behind your text because of the template you are using.
