Forgot password not working in admin PLEASE HELP

ive tried all day to get my password resent and it just says it will be sent to the admin email but isn't working

please let me know what i need to do to get this corrected

Question like this is asked frequently and normally can be easily found by searching the forum or specifically the FAQ. (Suggestion of standard posting is to do this type of search first.)

First though you will need to regain access to your admin: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?44

Then you will need to identify what is wrong with the emil portion of the site. Regarding your old account once this is done, you may have to create a new admin account after you are able to login using the above. When asked to change your password using the process above, be sure to use the password from the FAQ as your old password.

I think I messed something up now

I did the myphpadmin sql part and it said one row changed

but then I relized that the reset password email is case sensitive and it sent me a temp password

but now when I try to change the password it says There was a security error when trying to login.

im lost now please help

Can perform the sequence again to reestablish a "default password".

I tried to do that but it doesn't work it just keeps saying the security error

so when you use

DELETE FROM admin WHERE admin_name = 'Admin'; 
INSERT INTO admin (admin_name, admin_email, admin_pass, admin_profile)  VALUES ('Admin', 'admin@localhost', '351683ea4e19efe34874b501fdbf9792:9b', 1);

Where admin is replaced with prefix.admin ie if prefix is zc_ then zc_admin is used...

Those two SQL command together should restore access to use the default info.

in myphpadmin I deleted the extra admin logins and reset the password with the reset password function

I am sorry for silly question, but I am afraid to corrupt the data base.

Is parameter *admin *in blue name of data base or it must be a word *admin *?

I do not understand "prefix" and what is admin_zc in my case.

My database name is for an example "peter_zc3", should I use *peter_zc3* instead of *admin * ?

Please, enlighten me.

So, I sould use zen_admin

Glad you figured it out and got it working. I had a whole explanation of each of the two lines of the sql, but the messages came in before I could finish/post.

Anyways, the important thing out of the issue and attempted recovery is that if you make a database backup before trying to mess with the database then you can always restore the backup... also if you keep a development version of your store you can try things without disrupting operations.
