ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

. Quantity Units errors - You ordered a total of: 1 Min: 0 Units: 0

Broke SOMETHING and I don't know what, or how to do any search for how to fix it since I am not sure what the problem would be!

I did really mess up my Category/Products when I imported a CVS that did not work as I expected it to. My fault, not any program!
I ended up with about 200 categories and around 2000 items. All the categories showed a yellow icon for linked after the import.

I deleted all of the categories I did not want and hopefully the product in them also deleted!
I kept the stuff I already had installed and working, but of course it was wrong.

I imported my backup CVS which was JUST the items I already had set up correctly, then I had saved it before the bad import I did.
So backup should be correct.
I did not want those old prices and the bad import I did had the correct prices, so I deleted the price column from the back up and saved as a new file, then imported it.
I thought that would update all the items on the site to be correct again, but I guess it did not?

Or do I have some other setting wrong somewhere I don't know about?

Here is a link to my site if anyone wants to looks and see if they can see what's wrong.
http://shirts-and-stuff.com/zenstore/

There are very few items that will go into the cart correctly, most I have tried give the error I quoted above. All of the items DO have an amount of quantity showing so they should be IN STOCK. Almost ALL categories are still showing linked. They were already there before I did the bad import and full of working products, but those products do not work now.

Is there a way to UN-link those easy, or would I be best to just delete everything and import my backup CVS thatg has the wrong prices in it then work on correcting prices?

I would run a local store for testing and avoided this mess, but I have not been able to download the files I need from the MS site so I can install WAMP.

I just set up Paypal to take payments a few minutes ago and that is working as far as I can tell so far, when I can find a product that works anyway, and though I have not gone public with my store Who's Online has been showing guests often, often a few but I have had 46 at least yesterday at one time and 37 just now when I started posting this.

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

NOTE: You have Minimum and Unit set to 0 on your Products ...

You cannot buy 0 Widgets ... you need your Minimum and Units set to 1 ...

In the Tools ... Install SQL Patches ... run this:

UPDATE products SET products_quantity_order_units = 1, products_quantity_order_min = 1;

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

Also, if you go to your Zen Cart Admin and in the Configuration ... GZip settings and Turn on GZip, do you find this speeds up your site?

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

Thank YOU

I am backing up my database now, as soon as that is done I will run that code.

So both those fields need to be set to 1 for all products available for sale then.
I will check my CVS file and see what is in there also.

Unless you have Products with different Minimum or Units, yes, they should both be set to 1 ...

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

I wonder how long it takes to backup a database, mine should not be too large yet I think.
Been sitting here a short time now, Still have a box "Backing up Database... " and it has a green check mark?
Gee, does that mean it's working now, or that's it's done?
Never backed it up before so don't know if that just goes away on it's own when done or not.

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

When I do my database backups, I don't use my hosting company's "Backup" link. Instead I go to phpMyAdmin directly (there's usually a link to that program from your cPanel).

  1. From the left-hand display, choose the database to be backed up.
  2. From the top tab-menu, choose Export.
  3. If given a Quick / Custom choice, choose Custom.
  4. Make sure that all the tables are selected, choose your favorite Compression Method (e.g. zipped, gzipped), the Format is set to SQL, select "ADD DROP TABLE ..."
  5. Click Go and choose a local folder on your computer in which to save the backup.

Units? Do you mean like a 12pack sold as 12 only? And Minimum would be like single items but I only would sell 5 or more at a time but not 1 or 2 ?

I'll have to look to see how those are setup. I think a display box of 12, 24, etc.. is setup as a signal item, order 1 and it's the full 1 display box of 12 etc.. you'd get.

That is something I need to check and be sure of. Thanks for mentioning it.

When I sell imprinted items later I will need to remember to watch this part. I may price them as each, but sell 36 to a case, minimum full cases, like for events.

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

A minimum is where a customer must order at least XX qty ...

A Unit is used if you want to control how many can be ordered based on things like you must order in qty of 12, 24, 36 so the Unit would be 12 and in that case, the Minimum must be able to be set based on that Unit ...

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

I see now.

I ran the code, seemed to fixed my problem! I can now get my items into the cart with no errors. Thanks ALLOT!
That really helped!

Is there anything I can do like that to find items that have no price, or to prevent them from showing or being ordered. I may be able to find them fast with a spread sheet from my CVS but if another way also it would be good to know too.
I found 1 item for sure with no price and I put it in my cart and it worked fine so far. I don't know what would have happened if I actually tried to pay and complete the order. I'll try that in a few minutes.

My categories still show to be linked from my mistake the other day. Is there a way to unlink them? They should be correct with the items in those folders as they were before my mistake. Now the items mostly show linked also and the categories they show to be linked to I already deleted.

Oh, and I think I found how I messed things up also.
When I imported a CVS file from my distributor it is comma delemeted and works fine if I do NOT add categories with it. However they use a comma to desperate the categories/subs in the category field and that caused tons of new categories to be made that should not have been made. Like each Sub was put in the root and then in root/sub and also root/sub/sub etc...
Looking at a back up I made before I broke it, looks like instead of a comma it should have been a ^ so like root^sub^sub
At least that is what it seemed to been. I'm not going to break it again to see so though. LOL

I guess the box I mention for the database just gets the check arrow when done, does not just go away or update the text Backing up as it never went away.

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

If you are importing your Products, you should check your table:
products

and ensure that all Products have a master_categories_id ...

If you do not use Linked Products, this can be updated for you via the Tools ... Store Manager ...

However, if you do use Linked Products then you want to fix this yourself ... one way is to use the Multiple Categories Link Manager which you can get to via the C for Copy on a Product and click the button for the Multiple Categories Link Manager ...

Once all of your Products have been setup properly with the master_categories_id, then in the Tools ... Store Manager ... you can run the:
Update Products Price Sorter

Next, once that is complete, you could use the All Products link on your site and sort by Low to High ...

If you do not use Attributes or do not use Priced by Attributes, then you can browse your table:
products

in phpMyAdmin and see who is missing:
master_categories_id
products_price
products_price_sorter

NOTE: products_price_sorter is the lowest price that a Product sells for, such as a Product on Special or Sale the products_price_sorter would not contain the products_price but rather the Special or Sale Price ...

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

I don't have linked products that I know of, though about everything is showing to be linked?

What does tis do, and is it what I want to try?

Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID
to be used for Linked Products and Pricing:

I also see this and not sure if I should run it right now.

Optimize Database to remove wasted space from deleted records.

I did have around 1500 items and all those categories from my error I had to delete. Think I should run that now or wait awhile to make sure everything else is right first?

I fixed my products not having prices, was only about 10 or so items. I see what I did also.
I had things correct on the site, then I messed it up bad when I did a price update and added ALL products. Since the items online now had the correct price when I did another import after deleting all the stuff I did not want I did not use the price field as that would have put in the wrong prices again. There was a few items in that CVS that were not yet i the store so whe they imported they had no price.

I am learning.
Being able to do imports with Easyupdater and CVS files is a real help as I can see some things better to help figure out how they work. I also figured out how to find items without images or prices etc.. fast now too. I can Export the CVS from the store then sort it. Pushes all the products together that show No_image.gif in the image column. Now if I make sure I don't make any more mistakes I should be able to copy and paste just the item that have no pictures into a separate CVS to update as I can.

Can't say Thanks enough for all the help I been getting here on several things I've had some real problems with.

Re: ERROR, Don't know what to search for!

If you do not use Linked Products but you are showing Categories with Linked Products you really need to clean that up ...

Linked Products are Products that have more than 1 record in the table:
products_to_categories

The master_categoires_id of a Product should be the record in the table:
products_to_categories

when there is 1 and when there are more than 1 record, it is the categories_id for what Category "owns" the Product and so in regards to Sales that is the categories_id that controls what rules the Product pricing should follow ...

Check some of your Products that are marked as Linked Products and see if they should be part of multiple Categories and see if the one set as its master_categories_id is correct ...

It is usually better when you have lots of Linked Products to use the Multiple Categories Link Manager to set the Products in a specific Category to use that Category as its master_categories_id ....

If you run from the Store Manager the reset master_categories_id and you have Linked Product, then the lowest" value of the multiple categories_id is used as the master_categories_id and this is often NOT the correct master_categories_id ...

When you do not have Linked Products then the only record in the table:
products_to_categories

would be the correct master_categories_id and running the Update Master Categories ID works without conflicts ...

I have a new zencart install, added plugin EP4, changed delimiter to tab ($csv_deliminator = ","; // "\t" for tab -TO- $csv_deliminator = "\t"; // "\t" for tab), uploaded, imported, and everything looked fine, until I tried to add something to the cart. Then I got the same error.

I did this patch, and it seems to have fixed my problem.
