Can I add a step where Orders require Manager Approval?

I am creating an internal store to order equipment and services. The orders will need to be approved by the orderer's manager. Is there a way for a user to create an order and at the end have the order go into a default pending state until released by the approving manager? We also need to notify the manager there is a pending order to approve. With this being internal processes, billing via money/card/check will not be used.

With this being internal processes, billing via money/card/check will not be used.Forgive me, but yes, it is possible, there is a way to setup zC to require approval of the products (I thought it was) prior to final "purchase". All of the notifications, well via email is typical, which depending on the carrier may also be a text message via email. As for the billing, well without custom coding, zc requires at least one shipping and one payment module to be active. Even if those are free shipping and free products. Hope that helps somewhat. I'd have to look at the configuration options again to be able to state specifically how to setup the authorization path, but it is possible.

Thank you for the info. On other carts, they have a COD payment method so I could look at that.

I will take a closer look at the docs to see if I can piece together how to do this.

Zencart has a COD option and also has a Check/Money Order payment module which requires admin approval if you want.

Hi - In your admin there is a built in ordering status such as pending, processing, delivered and update. You could change the wording here to reflect what your internal store needs. If you look at customers -> orders -> the status is displayed prominently. Highlight the order you are looking to change, click edit, change the status dropdown menu. Add comments like manager's name or notes and click update.
As long as email is selected, the email will be sent to customer/employee and admin noting the changes that were made. :)
