from v139f to v151, English to utf8

My current ZC is v139f, which is default in English language. I am going to upgrade to v151 and would like to use default tuf8 language set. My question is, do I have to convert exist language into utf8 before upgrade to v151? or just preform the upgrade and v151 will take care it?

please advise!

First upgrade your site to 151, but specify iso-8859-1 in order to keep all your data intact. See: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?313-should-i-convert-my-store-from-iso-8859-1-to-utf8

Then, AFTER the upgrade is done and everything's working correctly you can evaluate best steps to take for converting the database data safely.
