Westminster New

Good morning again,

I'm trying to adjust the site above the fold and make it more active. (May or may not be a good idea)

I'm trying the make the home page slide shorter. I looked in template config as well as banners and couldn't find it. I also adjusted the image size. Didn't work.

Could you straighten me out?

Thanks

Look in the stylesheet_flex.css for the height of the slide show.

Thanks,

Anne

Re: Westminster New

Hello, I am having trouble with locating the correct files to edit for the slide show. I found the pictures in the banner folder but when changed nothing happens. Is there a html code section for this because I think I am getting the old slide1 etc. I looked at the admin - includes- index.php but I did not see anything which resembled the code I saw on the browers when I check the old page. Hope I made this clear.
Thank you
Ron

Re: Westminster New

Hi Ron

Did you go to Tools-Banner manager? The slides are set up in there (mine are homepageslide1). If you edit each slide you can replace it with your slide name.

Re: Westminster New

Hi

I am working on modifying my Westminster Template and learning how things interact in CSS.

I wanted to move the slimmenu (the one that says CONTACT US, INFORMATION, SHOP) from the left to the right. I accomplished this with a (float:right). But when the drop-down menu's open up, they open to the right and I want them to open to the left.

I searched the forum but only found info on the mega-menu module. This came with my Winchester New template, but i am not sure if it is an actual function of the template or an addon menu, so forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place.

Is this something that I can do with CSS? If so, can someone point me in the right direction. I've been going through the W3Schools tutorials but haven't seen anything there yet.

My play site is: testzen.thestitchsanctuary.com
I am running ZC 1.5.4 and have the current Westminster New Template installed.
I left the menu at the right.

I may end up moving it back to the left so please do not waste alot of time. At this point I am moving things to see if I like them visually and how they effect the rest of the page. If someone knows the answer off the top of their head, great. If not, I'll put them back to the left and add it to my "figure out" list.

If you want to make css changes I would recommend using chrome and the web developer tools. They will tell you the line of which file needs to be edited when you inspect the element.

Thanks,

Anne

Firebug is a good tool also. I prefer chrome due to the browser performance over firefox ;)

Re: Westminster New

Hello,

I'm having a issue with the template and I couldn't find an exact match.
The photo with big sale ( home-top banner ) Is visible in http version but not in https.
http://dr.tl/13c6ed - http version
http://dr.tl/2d7123 - https version

I get this error: "carouFredSel: No element found for "#foo1"." in both versions but in http doesn't seem to affect displaying the banner.
Thank you for the suggestion

I don't wish to display the categories_tabs menu for screen size greater than 980px. Where would I tweak the code to make this happen?

Re: Westminster New

In includes/mytemplate/common/tpl_header.php you will find this code

<!--bof-optional categories tabs navigation display-->
<?php require($template->get_template_dir('tpl_modules_categories_tabs.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_categories_tabs.php'); ?>
<!--eof-optional categories tabs navigation display-->

There is a similar file for the mobile and the tablet

Thanks lruskauff,

That was the first thing I tried. However, it completely removes the tabs menu even when resizing the browser window smaller than 980px. Not sure if I should just hide it via css? I would rather code some sort of if/else statement, but not sure what to test for when browser is less than 980px?

Sorry, I thought you were just looking for the location of the code. And As soon as I typed that I could feel my hands being slapped and a voice saying "do not change the code if you do not have to". I was hoping that voice was listening to guide us in a better way :) but they must be enjoying life today.

Yes, I was thinking of adding a line like:
if (this browser is < 980 pixels)
{draw the tab menu}

but I didn't get to search for an example of that code yet and don't know how to write it yet. If you can hide it with CSS do it and tell me please :)

Can I ask why you don't want it when the screen get bigger? Are you substituting another menu? I know I've seen some code testing the size of the window, just need to find it.

Yes, I have enabled the sideboxes on the main page, so the categories_tabs menu is redundant and will obscure the left sideboxes if you inadvertently move your mouse over the categories_tabs menu. The sideboxes go away when the screen is less than 980px. This is when the categories_tabs menu become relevant!

I'll look at the code I added to remove the sideboxes. Maybe I can reuse it???

I would add a display:none; to the responsive_default.css file for the media query that is appropriate to the screen size for which you want to hide the categories tabs.

Thanks,

Anne
