Cart not charging shipping unless customer is logged in!

I have been amazed at the things people will do to protect their information today. Right or wrong I"m guessing 10-20% of people won't want to create a username and password just to make an order. That could be the difference in a business being a success or failure. This is making me wish I hadn't chosen zencart as my platform. My developer said it was flexible but now I'm learning not so much.

Very flexible.. dunno what you're learning that says otherwise.. Perhaps you're working off of MIS-INFORMATION... or perhaps you SKIMMED this thread and walked away with the wrong understanding about how online shopping works all the way around..

As stevesh pointed out.. perhaps you've not heard of COWOA or FEC..

stevesh:

Maybe you haven't seen the COWOA mod in the Plugins area.
nods in agreement

Another point..

The truth of the matter is that whether you shop online or at a brick & mortar retail location you are probably giving the seller ALL YOUR INFORMATION.. (or have you forgotten about the customer data hacks at the brick & mortar retailers reported in the news over the last year or two)

Even if you are paying CASH some retailers are collecting your name, address, and phone numbers at checkout.. Everytime you signup for one of those "discount spending cards" you are giving the retailer your PERSONAL DATA..
