Lost Admin connection to Database

I seem to have lost my connection to my database without my doing anything except load in a new zen cart into a new folder. I haven't done any connecting yet to database but have partially run an install to the point of reading the documentation.

Here is the log from today
[21-Jul-2014 20:29:55] PHP Fatal error: 0:DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED :: delete from zen_db_cache in .../includes/classes/db/mysql/query_factory.php on line 120

Could the creation of the new cart have anything to do with this? That is the only new thing I have done.

That is the type of error message I would expect to see if all of the files were present and someone/something was trying to access the store. Without "instruction" about how to connect to a database, that would be the natural error. Now if you are seeing that and are unable to access your existing store, that's another story entirely. So please identify whatis not working thatu expect to be working? And if concerned about the new file(s), then well you'll get there when you're done withh the reading. :)
