customer login problems... problems w new class.zcPassword

hi,
i have successfully upgraded to v1.5.3, and i'm slowly moving through the problems/fixes i need to make. one that seems clearly an issue is i can not seem to login as a customer on the site. i'm starting to troubleshoot the problem, and i thought i would see if others are having this issue.

if i request a new password, i receive that in an email, and i then try and login in using that new password. at that point, zen would have stored the encrypted password in the db; when it tries to validate it in the zcPassword class, 1 of the first things it does it attempt to determine the type of password. guess what? it comes back as unknown.

given that zen generated the new password, should it at least know what type it is? or is the new password generator not properly storing the encrypted version? or is that password generator still using an older version; i see there are multiple types of possible hashes on the password.

more importantly, is anyone else having this problem?

as i figure things out, i will post them. its entirely possible that its something specific to my site, but i thought i would check it w the community. thanks in advance for any help.

What's your PHP version? There are numerous ways the code works, depending how outdated your PHP version is.
What's the field length defined as for the customers_password field in the database? It should have been changed to 255 during the upgrade. If that didn't happen then it can't store the new longer password hash.

Re: customer login problems... problems w new class.zcPassword

PHP Version: 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.13 (Zend: 2.3.0) PHP Memory Limit: 128M

the field length is correctly listed as 255.

in the zcPassword class, the function validatePassword is returning 1; so far so good... it has to happen downstream from that...

Mind elaborating on what you did that broke it? Just so others can have a clue about what they might have broken if they have similar symptoms?

Re: customer login problems... problems w new class.zcPassword

i do not mind at all!

i screwed up the header_php.php script for that page.

i have lots of add-on modules; 1 of which is the FEC (fast and easy checkout). in applying the changes necessary to make that module work, my if statements were very confusing, and the logic was wrong. they have an FEC master password that allows for an administrator to use their password to login into a customers account. just some lame coding on my part.
