USPS Module not showing lower priced shipping options

Installed USPS module on 2014-01-26.

Have selected for US shipping:
-1st class parcel
-standard post
-priority
-priority express

During checkout, only the last two shipping methods are offered to the customer. How can I show all 4 methods to the customer upon checkout?

It seems like there is a min weight set somewhere in the system? When I add several more products to the cart, the Priority and Priority Express costs are nearly consistent for a .25 lb package versus a 3.5 lb package.

I did a test and removed the 2 more expensive shipping methods (Priority and Priority Express) and kept the least 2 expensive methods (1st class parcel and Standard Post). When I checked out, no shipping options were shown. Just Walk-In.

does this tell you anything as to what the problem might be?

While I don't specifically know the changes that ajeh was able to see based on the earlier reporting, but at least at one time, shipments over a max weight (and even after manually being adjusted) were not permitted. If this is something that has changed, then perhaps the "install" wasn't fully carried out? I thought that one of the actions was to disable the old and reenable it after taking note of the credentials and other settings needed upon "reinstall".

I did an uninstall of the Jan 2014 USPS module and then did an install of the March 2014 USPS module. I made a copy in notepad of all settings and set them to the same on the new install. I uploaded the 2 files for the new March 2014 version.

Do you think I need to do another re-install?

Not necessarily. Is that php version even on the recommended list for zc 1.5.1?
What about the other factor asked about? The weight(s) of the items being attempted? It was my understanding that basically usps prohibits the use of certain mailing options if the weight of the package exceeds some value. The last time I remember looking at the settings there was an option to manually enter some values, but I think there was some additional automation that disregarded some of the settings if too high.

Could you please confirm the version of USPS?

Go to your Zen Cart Admin and go to Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ...

In the bottom input box enter:
usps.php

Then, select Catalog ... click SEARCH ...

What comes up on the lines for:

What are your settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

What is the Weight of your Cart?

Hi Ajeh,

I did a second (reinstall) of USPS module and it still wasn't showing lower weights. And this morning, when I opened up zencart, the USPS option under Modules -> Shipping is gone.

Ouch. Do I need to reinstall zencart? See snapshot of shipping modules page (attached). No ability to edit any of the shipping options anymore.

under Tools, the 2 usps.php files are there and are:

Could you look in your directory:
/logs (Newer versions of Zen Cart)
/cache (Older versions of Zen Cart)

and see if you have any debug logs?

If so, what do they read?

Is this done via FileZilla or via Developers Tool Kit?

After fixing the issue(s) listed ...

Delete all of the files in /logs that start with:
myDEBUG

Then try going to the Modules ... Shipping ... in your Zen Cart Admin and check the /logs (be sure to refresh the directory to see new files) to see if any debug logs are generated ...

If so, post them here ...

I did the two fixes suggested (yours and the doctors).
no change to the Shipping Modules page as far as appearance (yet).

new /logs/myDEBUG log file is one line:

Look and see if you have a copy of the file:
/includes/modules/shipping/usps.php

NOTE: if you want to make a copy use the naming convention of:
/includes/modules/shipping/usps.php_SOMETHING

and not:
/includes/modules/shipping/usps_SOMETHING.php

as the modules directories are "auto loading" and will load any files that end in .php ...

Oh my god! that did it. I had saved original usps.php as usps-old.php. I changed both /languages and /modules dirs and removed the old file and saved to my computer.

Shipping Modules is now back to normal, showing the right panel and USPS, Zone Rates, etc.

So I did another test and the less expensive two shipping options still don't show. see attached:

I made up a fake registration as a Canadian (international) customer.

I put in a 3.0 lb test product in the cart.

I have selected 3 international methods: 1st class package int'l service, priority intl and priority express intl.

Only the two more expensive shipping methods display, so same problem as US shipping:

Are the Configuration -> Shipping/Packaging settings affecting this?
Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight 0:2
Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight 10:0

Keep in mind, that a 3lb product will not ship as First Class as First Class is 13oz or less ...

Standard Post will only show, based on the USPS Zones ... these have changed with their changes made this year ...

Example: shipping from 44026 Ohio to 44026 Ohio will not show Standard Post, but shipping from 44026 Ohio to 33136 Florida will show it ...

You can force Standard Post, but then the other shipping methods will not show ...

Weights are also affected based on your Tare Rates ... if you do not want extra weight added to the Product, then set both Tare Rates to 0:0 ...

I think setting the Tare Rates to 0:0 did the trick. I am now seeing 1st class parcel for both US and Canada shipping.
