Different number of categories shown depending on category level

How do I specify two categories across horizontally on one level of category tree, say the top level, and then when one of those is chosen, go three wide on the next level, then maybe four wide on level three?

Re: Different number of categories shown depending on category level

Seeing your site live may let us find custom CSS rules that would accomplish this. Otherwise, it would take some customized PHP coding to override the admin settings.
