Really could use some help V1.39F crashed

dbltoe:

I don't think it's your PHP version although, 5.2.17 is old.

It may or may not be a factor in this case but there are some php settings that will affect a v1.5.3 install and yield a white screen after the first click.

See posts 17 & 18 for root cause/fix

Re: Really could use some help V1.39F crashed

Since teamzr1 is getting beyond the "Thank you for loading" that may not apply

@teamzr1 - Cpanel has a file manager. Use your filezilla to load the zip and use the extract function in cpanel's file manager.

Well another day in hell as the host provider crashed everything again at midnight last night and was back to square one

I figured out on my own to update PHP 5.2 to use PHP 5.3
and then ran the zc_install in the demo folder and hopefully all was done OK and at least shows
at http://teamzr1.com/demo/

Also the changed admin folder is also loading and shows Zencart version 1.5.3

OK guys guess the dumb questions ???

What files needs the read/writes setting changed and the big one

How can I take all my content as to products, paypal, etc from old V 1.39f to new one and then how then can delete the folder old version ran from called fstore and then change demo to fstore or are there files in demo i have to edit to change path to be fstore ?
Many external websites URL my frontstore and it is to a /fstore directory so want to allow new version to also have that folder name

I hate to loose the customer's login, credit card info, etc even though it is back from 2010 and all the info for the paypal router info
If you can steer me then after 2 weeks of being busted my Zencart can be back and functional hopefully by tomorrow

Many thanks for those who have replied to help me on this mess as then I have to fix the forums and other functions the host also busted

And... Permissions should be just fine (crosses fingers based on host's performance) so don't fix it if it ain't broke. (Is it really JSWEB?):shocking:

You carry over the old database BUT you need to do other things FIRST. AND ALWAYS DO A BACKUP OF THE SITE AND DATABASE AFTER EACH STEP.

Today's internet is not just in the spare bedroom at home or a laptop on the workbench in the garage. It's everywhere on tablets and smart phones. In order to present your product to all who surf, you will need to come up with a different template. http://tinyurl.com/otl4s2u is your site on an Apple iPhone in landscape. Just doesn't work. http://tinyurl.com/nhou3sd is one of our customers with a responsive template. There are several responsive templates listed at http://tinyurl.com/qbwauef.
The Basic Blue and Responsive Classic Contemporary Silver look like good starts. Basic Blue does not indicate it is 1.5.3 verified but it should work. I suggest you load a template and then add one category/product for testing. Perhaps the Performance category with the Icebox product.

Next steps: (homework:P)

  1. Using the cpanel file manager, select all files in the /demo folder and compress them. Name the file something that will help you remember what was there. The first might be basic_1-5-3_Load.zip. Add in the date if that helps. If your really munge things up with the template install, you can just delete all but the zip and extract it to recover from a disaster.

  2. Backup the database with the same naming convention as the files so you know which ones match. Backups save your a$$

  3. Select a template (preferably responsive) and add it to your demo setup. Test it to see how it looks. You can use http://tinyurl.com/p24og4v to test how it will look. If you don't like it, load another. No need to remove them yet. You can have MANY templates installed but only select one for the customer to see.

  4. If you like the look, you need to see it next with a product on display. Add a category and product to the site. Test it to see how it looks. You can use http://tinyurl.com/p24og4v to test how it will look.

While you are doing these things, you can be thinking about what you MUST have in the way of mods (like PayPal) on your site. Let's get to that point and we'll take the next step when you're happy with what you see.
