Cannot edit files About Us with Define Editor

https://www.mldfurniture.co.uk

None of the About US, Privacy, Conditions, Shipping Links etc are showing on our home page.

When I tried to go in to each of these pages in DEFINE PAGE EDITOR I received this message

Error Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/irishsho/public_html/mldfurniture.co.uk/includes/languages/english/html_includes/define_conditions.php

I have looked at all the files in question and they are set as 666.

Re: Cannot edit files About Us with Define Editor

Physically check to see that the files exist in the remote site:
**
includes/languages/english/html_includes/**
AND
includes/languages/english/html_includes/YOUR_TEMPLATE/
AND
listed in - admin/includes/languages/english.php
AND
listed in - admin/includes/languages/english/define_pages_editor.php

Finally make sure it's listed in:
includes/filenames.php

Report back if you're still having problems :)

Re: Cannot edit files About Us with Define Editor

Depending on your host, try 755 but you may need 777. Change back to 666 or 644 when done editing.

Re: Cannot edit files About Us with Define Editor

It was said that none of them are showing, if that means that by other means they have been confirmed to contain information (remember to consider the template situation described above) and are not showing, attempt to look at the served page with the defaault template active to validate that the core files are functioning properly. (Is possible that plugins installed may not like this condition, but hopefully will be able to see at least one page with the desired/expected content.)

Re: Cannot edit files About Us with Define Editor

When I changed back to the Classic default template all the "missing" files are there with the default text.

Then check to be sure you have them in the correct override folder:

\includes\languages\english\html_includes\YOUR_TEMPLATE\

Re: Cannot edit files About Us with Define Editor

They weren't in the Dover_Fine folder so ftped them to this and bingo these AboutUS, Shipping, Conditions pages appeared OK on the live site but a few spelling mistakes were found so went in to the backend of ZenCart to correct these using DEFINE EDITOR. Each files content appeared in the EDIT window but the warning message in pink again appeared and the SAVE but to save any changes was missing.

I then used FTP thinking I could edit these files with this but all of them had vanished. What is causing this and how are they appearing ON to the viewer to the site and back end of ZenCart but cannot be edited ?

What local software are you using to view via FTP?

Do you have an HTML editor installed into Zen Cart?

Re: Cannot edit files About Us with Define Editor

CoreFTP

No text editor on site but hoping to add in CKEDITOR shortly unless someone can suggest a better alternative for Zen Cart 1.5.
