PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

I have an error code that is setting every 10 seconds, or 2 minutes, even when there is absolutely no traffic on my site. It is filling up the log directory very fast, and I need some guidance on how to troubleshoot this one.

And you have no problem accessing either the store side or the admin side? Where did you get your install of Zc 1.5.3, how was it installed? (Upgrade, fresh install? If upgrade, please elaborate.) What plugins do you have installed, what other mods have been made? Please answer other questions that are part of the posting guidelines that apply.

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

This is an upgrade. I am using the same plugins that I was using with 1.5.0 without these codes, only the usual php warnings, due to php 5.4
I am running the Numinix shipping insurance mod, and a modified shipping insurance mod for signature confirmation, the absolute links sidebox here: http://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=441
And a responsive cold steel template.
I had the Google checkout back with 1.3.8a, and removed it due to issues.

Should I just start disabling addons until the errors quit?

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

I just removed the absolute links, and have two of those errors afterwards, but the third is this:

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

I have disabled the shipping insurance, signature confirmation, and absolute links, and still get the errors.
I also switched it back to the default template, and still get the errors.

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

Already, there seems to be a number of things incorrect. The tell a friend feature was previously disabled to prevent emails from being sent to other people by bots and the like. It should not even be on your system if the install/upgrade was performed as explained by the applicable documents and/or FAQ. Otherwise, possibly hacked? Maybe, taking the actions applicable for being hacked couldn't hurt the store... And ideally they would restore the cart to the way it should be.

When I did the update, I installed 1.5.3 in a new folder, and once I got it right, I downloaded it to my computer, and then uploaded everything into the root folder, overwriting the previous files. It looks like I need to delete all the zc files in the root folder, then re-upload the files from my computer. In the meantime, which file should I delete to get rid of the tell a friend?

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

I deleted all of the older files, and uploaded my modified 1.5.3 files only, and the error code still comes up. constantly. The tell a friend is no longer there, and I am the only one online.

Could it be something in the database setting this?

What is/was the source of your 1.5.3 files?

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

Looking through the internet, this may be a "credentials" problem for the database that is being used. What access rights were given to the username/password combination on the database itself as identified in your cPanel?

I can't change the access rights when I create a login for the sql. I am using bluehost, and they don't list different user levels.
The interesting thing, is that nothing changed on the datbase, except for the sql scripts to upgrade. i didn't know about the fix for the admin login, so I manually processed 1.5.0-1.5.1, then 1.5.1-1.5.2, then 1.5.2-1.5.3, using "install sql patches"

Before the upgrade, the only errors I had were the php warning issues associated with php 5.4
Immediately after the upgrade, stamps.com would no longer import the orders. It was throwing this error:

Message: mysql_real_escape_string(): Access denied for user 'redsauto'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I was able to restore functionality by commenting out this line in ShippingZClasses.php:

				//	$value = mysql_real_escape_string($value) ;

I downloaded the 1.5.3 fileset from here the day it was released.

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

I just found a different one from this morning:

[12-Sep-2014 07:38:58 America/Denver] PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (42000/1203): User redsauto_red already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /home2/redsauto/public_html/includes/classes/db/mysql/query_factory.php on line 62

It seems like there is too much activity going on, even though nobody is online, except for the spiders Currently I have four spiders online:

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

You got the messages from the stamps.com plugin because that code was performing a direct mysql_real_escape_string call instead of using the Zen Cart $db object. Since the mysql_* PHP functions are deprecated (i.e. no longer included/supported) in PHP 5.5, the Zen Cart v1.5.3 $db object now uses the supported mysqli interface, which is incompatible with the mysql calls.

When you said earlier that you used the samemodules in 1.5.3 that you hadused previously, werethe modules downloaded/verified to still function in 1.5.3? Or were the same file sets used in the upgrade as were used in the previous version and if the current version of every installed plugin was now downloaded that there would be a difference or would they be the same? (Not really a yes/no question. :) )

Re: PHP Warning: mysqli_connect(): (28000/1045)

Rt of quick check for the issue of having the wrong version of something installed would be to use tools->developers toolkit from the admin. In the lower left corner enter mysql_ then with the search to the right set to include both the catalog and admin, start the search.

The results will indicate which files support olderversions of ZC, the thing to then look for in those files is if they also support mysqli_ calls.

There is more to this if performed, but I'm withholding that discussion until asked/needed.

There's three core files with this: mysql_in_strict_mode
One of those is in admin/includes/languages/english/server_info.php * @version $Id: server_info.php 5954 2007-03-03 08:09:35Z drbyte $
One of them is in admin/server_info.php * @version $Id: server_info.php 13982 2009-07-25 15:49:38Z drbyte $
And the third is 1.5.3
One core file with this: DISABLE_MYSQL_TZ_SET
This one is 1.5.3
And the rest of the results are all in the template, which does not have a newer version.
So, it looks like I need to switch to another template. I want to, but it is so time consuming that I have been dragging my feet.

As I said/eluded. The presence of mysql_ statements does not guarantee that the file does not handle/manage the appropriate calls. In fact, in many cases if the template override files when compared to the template default files can be merged to include the updated changes, or if with a little homework the call can be simply replaced with mysqli_ like statements, you could keep your profile. There are/is a little bit of info that must be passed into the code I think it's the variable link off of the $db variable ($db->link), but ito look at some of the other code changes I've made to confirm that variable. Anyways, another test isto change your active template to the ZC default long enough for the error message(s) not to appear and that would likely identify the situation/solution.

Fyi, you may see other errors as a result, but... Don't want to see the same error(s).

Switching back to the default template doesn't help.
I can still process orders with this error setting, I just want to correct it.

I just did a search on a 1.5.3 version of ZC that I have been working with, but I also found the $mysql_in_strict_mode (a variable, not an actual call to the database using mysql_ instead of mysqli_) in the admin/includes/functions/general.php file... Did that not come back as well? And I wonder if I am working with a modified version of the file, although again it is mostly working with a variable that is then at one point assigned to an array value.

The other finds truly are in an override template directory (Not in a template_default directory or in the classic override directory(ies))?
