Shipping cost problem only for certain products

Very odd: most items go thru checkout fine. But a few items cause the entire shipping circuit to fail, and then the dreaded "The shipping rate cannot be determined at this time" appears and no shipping is charged. That just happened, and it cost me $45 in lost shipping charges.

I logged in with a test user id, and built a shopping cart like the one where the shipping failed, and sure enuf it failed for me also. Then I deleted items one at a time and isolated the one causing the problem. I added the rest of the items back in and shipping worked accurately. On the item that failed, I checked it and the shipping weight is fine, so no clue why it's throwing the shipping off. So:

My config:
In Configuration> shipping/packaging I have it configured the heaviest package = 50 and the rest is configured correctly.

To see this problem in the cart, do this:
This item alone will go in the cart with proper shipping attached ($25)

But combine it with these 2 items, and the shipping fails, and goes to zero (0) with the "at this time" msg.:

All 3 items are configured properly in their catalogue entries.

I also checked on the server for the debug file zen-cart is supposed to generate, in /cache/ in the store directory and there was a file
"ftp.colorpointinstitute.com-ftp_log-Sep-2014"

but it was empty of text.

Anybody? There's a $100,000 reward for anyone finding the cause of this intermittent problem....

All of your shipping rates end at 11lbs ...

If you add more than 11lbs to the cart, the shipping will be $0.00 ...

Change your last setting for 11:XX.XX to something like 10000:XX.XX, does this fix the problem?

Doh!. I'd noticed that too, but didn't think too much of it, but now that you mention it I did some work on a site with the same problem (and fix) not all that long ago.
