Manufacturer name breadcrumbs

I found init_add_crumbs.php and saw "add category names or the manufacturer name to the breadcrumb trail" and "dd get terms (e.g manufacturer, music genre, record company or other user defined selector) to breadcrumb" but cannot figure out how to make it work.

Is there a way to add the manufacturers name (and possibly other stuff) to the breadcrumb trail?

ie: Home > Category > Manufacturer > Model > Product Title

Aeons ago I decided to set my store up with a top category as manufacturers and customised a sidebox to select them, instead of using the built-in manufacturers sidebox, that gets the breadcrumbs as you describe.

Thank you very much for the suggestion, but there are just too many manufacturers and it would defeat the purpose of having an entire section for setting up manufacturers in zencart admin. There has to be a way to pull the manufacturers name from something like the manufacturers sidebox and put it in the breadcrumb loop.

What version of zen cart are you using?

I get the manufacturers name in the breadcrumb trail from the manufacturers side-box.
I get the manufacturers name in the breadcrumb trail from a custom manufacturers link.

Hi thank you so much for the help. In order to add something like this to a current theme, what needs to be added to init_add_crumbs.php to grab the manufacturers name and/or model number if it exists?

Any chance someone could please advise on getting manufacturers names to show in breadcrumbs? The stock breadcrumbs are a bit lackluster.

You can use the built in functions for the manufacturer, I haven't fully tested this and DO NOT recommend anyone doing it on a live store.

In init_add_crumbs.php:

find:

    $breadcrumb->add($productname->fields['products_name'], zen_href_link(zen_get_info_page($_GET['products_id']), 'cPath=' . $cPath . '&products_id=' . $_GET['products_id']));

above it add:

$breadcrumb->add(zen_get_products_manufacturers_name($_GET['products_id']),  zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'manufacturers_id=' . zen_get_products_manufacturers_id($_GET['products_id'])));

You can add whatever you want before the products name, search your functions files for existing functions to call id and names like I did for manufactures, if they don't exist, create a function.

REMEMBER: This will most likely affect the breadcrumb trail on the reviews page as well.
